The problem is we think we're justified to pass judgement, lol! The bible declares that our goodness is as filthy rags! In other words, everyone who thinks they're a "good" person is wrong. Even Jesus himself stop a man in his tracks when the man called him good. But it's all based on what you choose to believe. You may not throw a woman on a pile of guns, or beat YOUR child or get high and kill someone, but we all have our demons. We like to pretend that were better. We react mortified, of such horrible stories when the truth is one lie was enough to nail Christ to the cross. So no matter if you're a woman beater, alcoholic or you're addicted to pornography it's all sin.

GOD can forgive all though. Because he looks at the heart of a man. If someone has a broken spirit and contrite heart, they can be forgiven of anything. But I'ma stop preaching this morning cause this ain't the time or place

No, I was stating what I thought was fact at the time. God, Buddha, and Allah say "if Hardy were an Eagle, Billy would be singing a different tune."

I'm just done judging people...we all have serious issues. GOD sees us all the same. I understand the media makes their dollars from things like this, but I feel like this is one of the main reason I don't wanna do journalism anymore. We worship athletes and condemn them as well. As if we're perfect and have it all together... There are still multiple levels of sin ya know.. It isn't like all sins are equal. Not all but most. GOD can forgive all though. Because he looks at the heart of a man. If someone has a broken spirit and contrite heart, they can be forgiven of anything. But I'ma stop preaching this morning cause this ain't the time or place It's been the time and place since yesterday. I held back saying, just walk away. But this is the proverbial straw. Most people DO judge. Those that profess not to the loudest are usually the biggest hypocrites. Thank God the powers that be we don't leave it to Jesus, Allah, Jehovah or whomever to absolve the evilest of sins, for as many times committed at whim. Even the idea of a confessional is ridiculous to me. Live with your guilt, become a better person - for yourself and society, not an unprovable god and afterlife. Some are more perfect than others. We don't all have serious issues. Like Mitch says, not all sins are created equal. You are what you choose to do. No excuses. For heinous oft-premeditated crimes involving torture/innocent victims/children resulting in death or even mutilation, I'd pull the trigger myself, maybe set them on fire 2 inches at a time. Go meet Jesus thou art in heaven today. 'God sees us as all the same AND he can forgive anything'. I don't get that part of Christianity. I won't believe in a god like that, one that thinks I'm not better than some scumbag who tortures and kills dogs, beats women and small children, rapes, mutilates, fucks up innocent people for life. And they can repent? 'I'm sorry I ruined your life - or took your life and devastated your loved ones' And they're just as good as me? Wait, they are better than me cuz they've accepted Jesus as their savior. There are a LOT of people who think that way - very twisted. I'll leave it at that and stop my own preaching.

I am actually intrigued to keep this discussion going, however from the way it is heading I see it delving more into the theological side of things, which I am interested to discuss, but know where that usually ends. Sooo, I dunno if I wanna continue lol.

Wait, they are better than me cuz they've accepted Jesus as their savior. No one is saying that. and those who do are wrong. I'm no better than you because I've accepted Him. Just means I'm forgiven. Not really the thread to discuss this in, but seeing as how it's already going on here.... And mitch. Some sins are worse, yes, but if you're guilty of one, you're guilty of breaking the whole law. Someone who murdered someone vs someone who told one lie face the same fate without repentance is all will is saying really. With that said, I don't agree with will giving Hardy a pass because we can't judge. Saying he did a horrible thing and shouldn't be playing football isn't judging. It's saying he should face consequences for what he's done.

And mitch. Some sins are worse, yes, but if you're guilty of one, you're guilty of breaking the whole law. Someone who murdered someone vs someone who told one lie face the same fate without repentance is all will is saying really. And to further clarify this because I know the response that will come. "So a really good person who only ever sinned once will face the same fate as a mass murderer?" Yes, and here's why. God is completely holy. Heaven is completely holy and nothing unholy can be in his presence. It just can't be; it's against his being. Now, I know you'll say "a mass murdering evil god is all holy?!" Etc etc and I don't want to get into that, but for now just pretend like you accept that He hypothetically is. So one sin unrepented for (no I'm not catholic and don't think that if you die with one or however many unrepentant sins, you're not saved. I just mean that if you only ever sinned once and never asked forgiveness/accepted God) can't come into the presence of God the same way a murderer's in repented sins can't. But anyone who has accepted Jesus and asked for forgiveness, every sin they ever commit is placed on the cross, so they can be in the presence of God. Btw - I'm moving every part of this discussion to the religion thread so we're no taking over this one.
