"The hoax began crumbling around the edges late last year. On Nov. 4, 2012, an "U'ilani Rae Kekua," supposedly Lennay's sister, popped up on Twitter under the name @uilanirae. Manti Te'o immediately tweeted out the following:
Mteo5 - "shoutout to Ms. @uilanirae. She's new to twitter and really needs some followers! One of the realist people I know. 11/4/12"
A new account? How many times do you think they've even talked? Does anyone see something very incriminating about the 'realist' comments?
Not only is the entire timeline very sketchy, but the author often fails to tell where the information came from that multiple newspapers are reporting.
"Nov. 28, 2009: Te'o and Kekua meet after Stanford's 45-38 victory over Notre Dame in Palo Alto, according to the South Bend Tribune: "Their stares got pleasantly tangled, then Manti Te'o extended his hand to the stranger with a warm smile and soulful eyes." Kekua, a Stanford student, swaps phone numbers with Te'o."
Where did the paper get this info? Did Manti tell them this? Did the author witness it? What is the publish date?
"2010-2011: "They started out as just friends," Te'o's father, Brian, told the Tribune in October 2012. "Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there."
Did he lie to his own father? Did his father lie to the Tribune!??!?! Did he tell his dad all this in Oct 2012? Don't you think over the course of 2 years, he'd at least be aware of all visits with the girlfriend? We don't know if Manti lives w/Dad (housing VERY expensive, even on a full scholarship w/perks), but no intro to the parents? Anyway, someone is lying.
"SI's Pete Thamel described how Te'o would phone her in her hospital room and stay on the line with her as he slept through the night. "Her relatives told him that at her lowest points, as she fought to emerge from a coma, her breathing rate would increase at the sound of his voice," Thamel wrote."
It doesn't say where the author got his info from. Was it an interview with Manti? But wouldn't you think he'd be tipped off by lack of 'hospital sounds'? Beeping IVs, talk from doctors, nurses, orderlies, technicians, family, friends? If she was on the brink of death from a car crash, I'd imagine you'd be in the hospital for quite a while. Not to mention the bone marrow transplant (donor details?).
As for the Deadspin author, how can he know all this?"
"Manti Te'o and Lennay Kekua did not meet at Stanford in 2009. The real beginning of their relationship apparently occurred on Twitter, as an encounter between @mteo_5 and @lovalovaloveyou, on Oct. 10, 2011. Here's the moment they first made contact.

Lennay Kekua's Twitter name was @lovalovaloveyou from 2011 until April 2012, @lennaykay from April until September 2012, and has been @lovemsmk ever since. Their interactions, by and large, consisted of mild flirting. By January 2012, they were a "couple," and Te'o sprinkled #LMK (for Lennay Marie Kekua) throughout his Twitter timeline in 2012.
As for what Kekua was tweeting, we have only bits and pieces. Her Twitter was private during most of this time, though various Google caches reveal her ever-changing series of avatars and a handful of Twitpics."
Like someone else mentioned, she might have used another 'real' last name on a more business type 2nd twitter acct. Personally, I don't see how anyone can perpetuate an elaborate charade like this for that long. And why? The supposed perpetrator (Ronaiah Tuiasosopo) would really have to have a reason to hate him, and nothing I read looks like anything but friends. Something doesn't shake out. More questions than answers right now, and we probably won't be hearing the end of this anytime soon.
