Wanted to make a thread if anyone wanted to talk about it... I might add something later.

As a fan, I'm happy to see them playing well and winning 3 of the last 4... but as a realist, I know that winning games at this point only hurts us more than anything else. I mean, what positives could come from winning now?
Save the coach's job? Doesn't matter... new GM most certainly means new coaching staff.
Build confidence going into next season? Well, we did the EXACT same thing last year. Started 2-8, then 5-9, and ended 6-10. Confidence was high going in to this year, and what happened? Started 2-8, and now 5-9... fucking déjà vu
So to me, winning games now is only hurting us b/c the more we win, the further down the draft order we go. Other than RB's and possibly D-linemen, we have no depth. And with starters like Smith, Gamble, and Gross closing in on the end of their careers, we need as many high draft picks as we can get. Losing games to get a higher draft spot would make me much happier right now than winning meaningless games that accomplish nothing.

I'm with you bigd. I loved the win because I love to be able to mess with Craig for a while, but it doesn't help much.
I sure hope we don't keep any of the coaches except maybe Sam Mills III & our DL coach.

I was hoping to get as high in the top 5 as possible for the chance to make a huge trade with any team wanting to draft a QB, like the Rams and 'Skins did this year. Don't see that happening now. I'm sure we'll beat the Raiders and either end 6-10 again, or 7-9.

I disagree whether the coach is here or not there are players on this team that need to learn what it takes to win. Even if finally winning games we are finding out what we truly need and seeing some good things out of a few players like Campbell and Dockery. It also still shows what we need to be getting out of the draft. A tackle or a nose gaurd.

A good draft can still be had no matter what spot you are in if you trust your scouts and gm. Gm is obviously a question but we go a new scouting firm last year (did the last draft) and I was pretty pleased with the draft so far.

It also still shows what we need to be getting out of the draft. A tackle or a nose gaurd. That's a good point. Never thought about the "player's needing to learn how to win" perspective. I was just looking at it from the standpoint of getting a high draft order and trading down to stockpile future picks, sort of like how the Rams did this year and how Belichick seems to do every year, and use them to improve our depth which we are severly lacking in nearly every position other than RB. I am impressed with how Cam has been limiting his turnovers over the past 5 games, though. I just hope it's a sign of him actually improving instead of just being due to him facing lowly teams.
