The Braves signed Upton to a 5 year 75,25 million dollar contract.
I don't get it. He has a rep as not being a team player and a bad clubhouse influence. Now I know the Braves think they can turn him around, but is he worth that kind of money? I think they could have kept Bourn for not much more. Thoughts?

Braves must be in the one percentile to waste 75 mil like that on a guy who has a lifetime average of .255
I bet theres only maybe 4 or 5 players that make 75 mil in football.

Man, this thread is old, but I just saw it because I don't visit the baseball forums that much at all... but 75 mil isn't really that huge in baseball anymore when you have guys like Arod getting signed to 10 year, 200+ mil contracts back when he was with the Rangers. If he does become a cancer, I'm sure they won't hesitate to cut or trade him, though. Only guy I care about right now is Jason Heyward. Now that Chipper's gone, we're going to need him to become the face of the team for years to come, so hopefully he continues to improve his game and sticks around for a long time.
