I got talked into joining a pool league this year. I've been on leagues before-- on and off --since 1982, but only all-girls leagues. This year, I'm in a co-ed league. At least that's what they call it. Girls aren't "required," and we've yet to play another team this season who is starting a girl. Every week, my three games go something like this-- I break. Nothing falls. He runs 5 balls. I hit in 2. He runs the table and sinks the 8 ball. Game over. I lose. He breaks and runs 5 balls. I hit in 1. He runs the table and sinks the 8 ball. Game over. I lose. I think I might have won 1 game-- a couple weeks back--when he scratched on the 8 ball. I don't expect tonight to be any different. I'm considering just stopping in, handing over my five bucks, and then coming home. What's the point?

Sit on the floor with your legs crossed, now hold my hands as I sit across from you. Close your eyes and repeat after me. "I have confidence, I have concentration, I have power. I am alive, I am free, I am beautiful, and I have skills." "Ohhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm Ohhhhhhhhhmmmmmm"
Now go in there with a strong attitude that you are going to sink all the balls and win the game.

Not trying to be distasteful, but I thought you were going to suggest the "distraction" approach like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct Been there---done that. I did say I've been playing competitive billiards for 30 years, right? I've hustled my share of "free drinks" and twenty dollar bills by playing bar pool over the years--making that incredible bank shot and "innocently" declaring-- Wow! I didn't think that would go in! *giggle giggle* Although, I've never resorted to the sitting down in the middle of the bar and assuming the crossing-my-legs "spiritual" pose while humming meditation cadences, I'm willing to give it a try. This season, I've already employed the bent-over-the-table-ass-sticking-out-and-legs-spread-wide, as well as the sliding-my-cuestick-between-gapping-cleavage distraction strategies and neither have been very successful at winning any pool games. The fact that the opposing (ei: winning) team typically admits that "our matchup" was the best going-out-on-a-Wednesday-night-and-having-loads-of-fun----more fun than they typically have when playing those ALL-BOYS teams in our league --only feels like a double loss for us. *sigh* Why exactly would I want you to be having fun while you are kicking my ass? Perhaps, I'm just a sore loser-- although I prefer to define my resistance to defeat as embracing a positive attitude--failure IS NOT an option. ;D Ironically, I find myself being able to bring this rant right back into the realm of football. LOL If I was Larry Fitzgerald--a super stud facing FAILURE on a weekly basis and rolling his eyes at having to play with a really bad QB--I would find a way to go micro and be satisfied with just "doing my time" and having "fun" while I was collecting that $100M. BTW--I was 1-2 tonight in our pool league. And I'm LMAO that in the only game I won, he made a spectacular shot that sunk the 8 ball--but then the cue ball bounced off three rails and dropped in the side pocket. Game over. I win.

My pool league was on a bye for Thanksgiving. I guess--as a player you gonna love those byes. (Woohoo-- the Packer's defense should be healthy, right? ;D Nevermind, this last week against the NYG. ) Tonight, we play the bar just "down-the-road" AT HOME. (Whatever that means. ) Considering the bar is within walking (or stumbling) distance, the opposing team is made up of players who are all "my friends." I love my friends. But, I've decided that they are going down tonight. (Ok--I realize that if they show up with all guys---they will probably kick our ass. But, I'm hopeful.) If I envision a win tonight, will that make it so?
