In response, how could you blame ANY Pittsburgh fan for buying into the hype that is the Pittsburgh Pirates? Not just us! Haha! Also a quick stat about Marte, I'm pretty sure there are only 7-8 guys where in their first at bat FIRST PITCH OF THE GAME, first ML start hit a home run. I'm really hoping the Pirates can snag Victorino. Would love to have Pence but too much to give. Huntington already said he's not going to mortgage this teams' future. Let's hope the Rockies can give the Reds a little bit of trouble please? They have to be a "little" stiff after their day off! And as for the Astros, you play the cards you're dealt...and damn! We got some nice cards! not likely. the rockies pitching we are playing this week is crap. i actually see another sweep happening, but its on the road, so i cant overlook that. regardless, get ready to see another series win for the reds this week, and then again next week against the padres. 2 more series games for the reds to get tuned up before another round with the pirates doomsday is coming next week Unfortunately there will be no stark GB changes between the Reds and Pirates until next weekend. As we play the Astros for two more games, and then the Cubs again. That weekend will be huge as far as positioning and lead goes for the NL Central. It's a two-horse race, and I'll Have Another is catching up!!!! Let's just say I'm really happy we'll be playing the Reds without their Pirate kryptonite Joey Votto.

Reds have won 8 in a row without Votto because they have played scrum.
Agreed that it will be all pitching. Both ballclubs have great staffs, and great bullpens.
The Pirates, depending on how the rotation may get screwed up because of moving Correia to the bullpen and playing Rodriguez today, may have the best of their rotation to play the Reds. If they stick to how the rotation is now, our starting pitchers would be Fri: Bedard Sat: James MacDonald Sun: A.J Burnett
Bedard's last 3 games have been really good, no offensive help earlier this week when he got 11 K's against the cubs, 1 allowed run. Don't know if it's coming to him or if this stretch is sort of a fluke. I'm thinking fluke and that the offense will have to definitely pick up the slack on Friday.
On Saturday it'd be JMac. I love JMac. Past 3 games he's struggled quite a bit and I don't get that the issue is. If he has another bad game on Monday Pirates have to consider having him skip a start and rest. If that happens, then on Saturday the Reds would face Correia. BUT! If JMac gets back on his groove that I know has, he's really hard to hit against. Not sure who we'd be facing on the Reds' end, but If JMac is JMac we have a pretty good shot at taking that one.
Sunday it's A.J Burnett, who I believe is our TRUE #1. I can't see the Reds having a field day against Burnett without Votto. Even then.
Really the pitching is going to be solid on both ends...the question will be who can score 2 runs first?
Huge Rockies fan right now. 8 wins in a row is just a tad ridiculous. You gotta lose ONE before we play you, hahahaha.
Can't wait for next weekend.

Huge Rockies fan right now. 8 wins in a row is just a tad ridiculous. You gotta lose ONE before we play you, hahahaha. Can't wait for next weekend. heres the pitching matchup from what i see game 1: wandy rodriguez vs mat latos. both pitchers are a bit disapointing this year. rodriguez has played 3 times against the reds this year. 2 of them were quality starts. latos has pitched one time against the pirates this year, and didnt give up a run to them in 6 innings. hes never lost to the pirates edge: push game 2: james mcdonald vs mike leake. one great pitcher vs one ok pitcher. mcdonald pitched 2 times against the reds this year and both were quality starts. leake pitched 2 times against the pirates this year. 1 quality start and 1 bad start. hes lost more times against the pirates than hes won edge: pirates game 3: erik bedard vs homer "batman" bailey. 1 unstabble pitcher vs 1 big surprise this year. bedard has never pitched against the reds, but will likely in this game. bailey has pitched 2 starts against the pirates this year. 1 was a complete game, and the other was a bad start. hes owned the pirates overall in his career edge: reds its very even right now. game 1 will be the important one

Pirates traded for a bunch of people I've never heard of. In Huntington we trust... Gaby Sanchez and Travis Snider. Don't know all that much about Sanchez and Qualls, but Snider played with both SP A.J. Burnett and C Rod Barajas when they were with the Blue Jays in '08 so there is some familiarity there.
