Sigh... I hate losing at the end, I know Cam does too. He played well today (Cam), those two INTs were at most half his fault. on the first one he tried to throw it away, didn't throw it away far enough and Olsen stood there and watch Tim Jennings dive for it. The 2nd one Smitty slipped and couldn't catch the pass, and it was return for six. Don't really blame those on him, the first one you blame it more on Cam than Olsen, though. Stewart with 80 total yards vs a great CHI team. Liked that. Smith played REALLY REALLY well. Only error was the slip. Greg Hardy played UNREAL. WOW is all I can say. CJ played well two, two sacks and two FF. LB played pretty well in the open field. Munnerlyn played well (wait, wut?) Better week from Chud. Not happy with McDermott. CHI ran the same route twice in a row and told Josh Norman, a bump and run CB, to play zone and not give up the big play. Both times, CHI picks up a first down, winning the game. Might add more later. Go to CSR.com for other opinions.

Yeah, I don't put all the blame on Newton for his picks either... especially the one intended for Smitty. Nothing he could have done on a timing route if Smitty slipped. The one to Olsen that he tried to throw away was more Jennings making an incredible effort for the ball. His fumbles, on the other hand, are inexcusable. He needs to be more careful with the ball, both passing and when he's running. He now has EIGHT fumbles through 7 games when he had 5 all last season. That's gotta change.
But our d line was sick in the first half picking up 6 sacks, 2 FF's, and 2 recoveries... but they disappeared in the second. I think if anyone's to blame for our d playing so horribly, it would be McDermott. Out of the whole coaching staff, he needs to get canned the most.
Overall, we played MUCH better than I thought we would, but we still ended up 1-6.
I'm looking at the bright side, though. If we end up with a top 5 pick next year in the draft, the new GM will have the chance to trade down for more picks so we can add some much needed depth around the team. Hopefully the GM will be able to draft better in rounds 2-4 than Hurney was able to do. Of course, if they trade D Will for some picks, it would help out more too. One things for sure, if the new GM starts making some drastic changes with the coaching staff and other things, I don't see Smitty being with the team next year whether we release him or he retires. If it is left up to Smitty to decide what happens, I believe the only reason he would choose to stay is if he wants to further help Newton and the other young guys to develop more. Outside of that, I don't think he's going to play for anyone.

I don't know if I'd want to keep the top five pick to get Star Lotuleili or trade it and fill some of our many needs...
We NEED a NT, a FS, and probably a WR.
We could really use a LT and OG.
It's too many needs to fill in one draft, I don't know what we're going to do.
Best case is get Star L in the first and get someone like T.J. McDonald or a WR like Justin Hunter in the 2nd. Or trade down, grab Tavon Austin/Kennan Allen (or Joeckel) and a NT with first round picks and get a FS in the 2nd.

This was the Panthers second best game of the year and they still lost. It was the best HALF of the year in the first half. The rest of the game was meh. That's pretty much our MO now. At least it was pretty much all last year. Play good the first half and get a good lead. Play poorly the second half b/c we fail to counter the opponents halftime adjustments and blow the game. What is this... our 4th straight game where we blow the lead or blow a chance for the lead in the final 3 minutes?

SEA: bad throw by Cam with 3:47 left on 4th and goal at the 1. ATL: Up by 4 with 7:55 to go. Big plays to Julio and R. White, two FGs. Cam fumbles ahead of the 1st down marker and recovered behind the 1st down marker. DAL: Up by 1 with 7:32 left, Bailey two FGs. + the terrible no call on the PI and the bad horsecaller tackle. CHI: Let up 16 points in the 4th quarter, only scoring 3.
