white cop shot a black dude. His trial results came in, said self defense. #oversimplified So it's basically the Zimmerman case all over again? I mean, it has the racial overtones. But Zimmerman wasn't a cop.

I mean, it has the racial overtones. But Zimmerman wasn't a cop. Well yeah, that's what I meant. I don't see why that has to lead to rioting though. :/ There is so much that happened here. After the shooting, there were peaceful protests that the police handled very poorly. Outside officials were brought in to help mitigate the situation. The rioting now is because the trial just ended and the officer was not charged for the shooting. There a two sides to this story and the truth is likely somewhere in the middle. One side says the cop shot Mike Brown while he had his hands in the air. The other side claims that Mike Brown was showing aggression and the cop shot him in self defense. Now both of those are over simplifications of the issue, but it kind of sums up the situation. Since it was a white cop and a black man, there is obviously going to be racial undertones (to say the least) with this issue. And Ferguson wasn't really leading the country in racial equality prior to this incident. One thing that can't really be denied is that the police overreacted initially and the rioters are overreacting now. The media hasn't helped issues much, by reporting too much speculation, rather than waiting for the real facts to come out.

This was a police officer, he shot the guy six times, and, although I understand Morkim was simplifying things, what he said isn't true. The verdict never came in. The prosecution failed the indictment stage. That means that the state of Missouri decided that there is no possible way that Wilson could be guilty, even though he shot a guy, and that he's so certainly innocent they're not even going to have a trial. This botched indictment will go down in history as one of the most disgusting abuses of power in United States history. We all need to remember that Darren Wilson shot a man and was not found innocent, he never was even charged or indicted. Meanwhile, black people are rounded up in all cities of this country for standing on a street corner or for driving while black. This country is fucking disgusting, probably the most racist in the world and those who uphold the status quo diserve to burn in hell. These looters and riot participants are fucking heroes. They're going to go to prison or even die fighting institutional racism in America. The chaos they cause in the next few days will cease quickly, the atrocities committed by our own government will never stop until Americans rise up and eviscerate the current police and military industrial complex. Police officers can commit public lynchings and not even see a court room. They are invincible. Young black men can and HAVE been put to death for fitting a description. They are guilty until proven innocent. I have personally been harassed for "obstructing pedestrian traffic" AKA being a teenager and I have personally been described as fitting a description, only to get off because I am white. The killing of Michael Brown is not the last time the police will murder an innocent civilian. The justice system will claim more american lives than it saves this year, just like it did last year and every other year. Ferguson will not be the only murder, but using it as an opportunity to destroy the system that is destroying the United States is an opportunity that can't be wasted. I stand with these protesters. Fuck the police

Wow Juggs really? The rioters and looters are heroes? They are burning businesses owned by mostly blacks. They are shooting into the air and we all know that what goes up must come down. They are injuring and ruining peoples lives. That's a hero? You say you have been accused due to fitting the discription but was let go because you were white. Did you do the crime? (please answer that one) I personally wish they would of had a trial. But they pretty much did. That is what the grand jury is for. I'm sure the facts of the reason for the non indictment will come out. It's already starting. Here is an article I just read. If I did that to a cop, white or black, I would expect to be taken down. www.nbcnews.com/storyline/michael-brown-shooting/darren-wilson-described-michael-brown-crazy-intent-killing-him-n255521Ferguson is 95% black and mostly white cops. The cops say blacks don't try to be cops. Wilson was a cop there for six years. Never shot anyone before. So I guess he's good at holding in his racism right? I look forward to more facts to come out. But just because the cop was white does not make it a hate crime. And yes Uncle Jeepers you should comment if you want to. Edit. Oh and I just started to watch your video. Its stupid and totally non productive to creating peace.

Fuck the police Guilty until proven innocent? No. Just no. You have no idea if he actually murdered an innocent man, unless there have been things I don't know about. I haven't looked deeply into the story and didn't even really hear about it until last night and only know the basics. The fact that there are polar opposite witness accounts of the shooting makes it really hard to know what actually happened. I'm not saying the officer is telling the truth and was completely acting in self defense. And I'm not saying he wasn't acting in self defense. From what I have read, I don't know and there wasn't enough evidence to charge him. Innocent until proven guilt my friend. However as I said I haven't read deeply into it so if you have proof to back up that this was murder please share. If this officer killed that unarmed man because he was black or for any reason that was unjustified I most certainly want him to be punished. The fact he was shot 6 times makes me skeptical. So show me why you feel strongly about this. Yes, the police force is not right. And things need to be fixed. But I don't like it when people group them up and say fuck police officers or just assume an officer is a douche bag. My cousin was a great honorable cop. As far as the riots, they're destroying people's property and stealing from people that have nothing to do with it. My dad owns his own business and how would I feel if people started looting his place because of an issue like this? Or if they destroyed one of our vehicles? Again I may be speaking in ignorance of the situation because I haven't done more than an hour of reading and I need to do more, but if I'm wrong, please tell me why. And as far as "black people are rounded up all over the coubtry for standing on street corners or driving while black" is simply not true. Racism is just not as big of an issue as people make it out to be. Does it still exist? Of course. And it is disgusting and there is nothing more infuriating than a human being being discriminated against for the color of his skin but it's not like you or the country is making it out to be.

Saska. I agree with the point that the government went overboard with the military presence. Now the rioters are complaining that they let Ferguson burn. Which is it? Do they want police or not? It's a no win situation for the police. Damned if they do and damned if they don't.
DON'T burn things up if you don't want them to burn.
I say let them burn their own town down if they want. It's a totally stupid idea. I noticed no fire fighters. I don't blame the fire departments for just staying away.

Ferguson will not be the only murder, but using it as an opportunity to destroy the system that is destroying the United States is an opportunity that can't be wasted. I stand with these protesters. Fuck the police @juggs, there is no question that the white police officer has been let off the hook for killing a black teenager as of late (most recently with Brown, and Trayvon Martin not too long ago), but I disagree with most of the post above. I'm not going to sit here and disagree with the point that blacks get much worse treatment from a cop driving by for doing much less harmful things (to use your example, standing on a street corner), because it is most certainly true. Along with the point that this country has an unquestionable high amount of racism (not specifically saying racist people with that statement; they are in another category of being racist). Ultimately, I do agree that this whole thing was handled poorly, from the officers after the event itself, to the media and them not wanting to wait until the facts came out (somebody else said it above me, but I don't remember who it was). The looters are not quite hero's, but they most certainly are not afraid to be bold and voice their opinion, something this world has seemed to be lacking over time in my estimation. Yes, African Americans have an absolute right to be disgusted with this verdict, because history has repeated itself that the "white cop" has gotten away with killing the innocent black young man, but violence is not the answer. The president of our country (who is at no least mixed, but I would consider him black because as the old saying goes, "You are what your gender parent is", and his father is black) said it. Our country's Constitution gives us the right to voice our opinions, but it does not give us the right to vandalize property based on our feeling of a court ruling that that individual may not agree with. Now, to my big issue with the post. You said "Police officers can commit public lynchings and not see a court room. They are invincible". That statement was one of the most horrific things I have read about this case. Police officers do get a terrible rep for stories like this, but to say such a bold and dare I say disrespectful of you. They are ultimately the ones who go to work every day and put their own lives' out on the line just to keep the rest of the community safe. My father was a police officer for over 20 years in a "bad area" in a suburb of Chicago, but nothing like Ferguson. To sit there and listen to most of the stories he has told, it shows how much of a mental beating it takes on you. The best quote I heard from him was "When you decide to be a cop, it's like losing your virginity. Once you enter into that mind state for your job for a long enough period of time, you can never go back and change it to be like a regular civilian". Like it or not, it brings up a very good point that the public never quite seems to think of. Not to mention that the very least an officer has to do after just firing his gun one time is a boatload of paperwork. A police officer, just like every other civilian in this country, is allowed to protect himself if he is being threatened. People seem to forget that when cases like this come up. Now, protecting themselves and killing a civilian are two different things, but like I just said, people seem to forget about that when hearing of these cases. Some of these protestors may need to dial 911 for help from the police, and they certainly cannot bash them for the officers trying to do their job to protect them. So, why should they be bashing them, if one of them who is in the same occupation is put into a situation to save them? The only thing that we cannot change is the death and how the death occurred to Michael Brown, and I am of the belief that no 18 year old should be killed, because in my belief, people are naturally born good. What turns them evil is what their mind processes growing up (basic learning units in high school psychology teach this). I am not disagreeing with your opinion that the officer should not have been not indicted in this case, but I am absolutely disagreeing with you on the fact that police officers are invincible, because they go out and risk their own lives' to protect the rest of the community. I think you horribly misunderstand that.
