Like I have said if they can get their hands on a LT for the next decade then they should take them, but none of this starting them out at RT or using that as a back up plan. The defensive problems stem from missing their defensive signal caller in Foote and the defensive secondary getting older. I'll be shocked if a lot of vets are not released this season and take the hit by letting younger players starting. I don't the Steelers will trade down, they're not well known for doing so. As for drafting for defense, I don't see many defensive players worth taking where they will be picking. The top guys would likely be CB Darqueze Dennard, CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, DE RaShede Hageman, and DE Stephon Tuitt I can see one of them being the pick but there are more options at LT and WR as well. I think Matthews is the only sure fire bet to be a great LT in the league. And we won't be in his range. And I don't like the idea of trading up for him because we need the most picks possible. Stupid goodell. They will be missing Foote next year too, so hope that isn't gonna be an issue. I do think a leader needs to emerge on D. Troy and Timmons aren't vocal enough to be leaders. IDK who it can be, but I think it's been a problem since Farrior left. I know the steelers don't trade down but this year I think it's a possibility. They will be right in the area where teams could want to trade up to take a qb. An I'm not in love with any of the guys thy appear to be in the 6-15 ish range. My opinion could change. I love following and thinking about this stuff. Please no QB. Shayne Skov wouldn't be too bad of an option in the 2nd round or later. He's got leadership qualities, decent size, does well in shedding blockers, and has some experience blitzing the QB. Christian Jones and Yawin Smallwood might be good options as well.

Coach LeBeau says he wants to come back next season. Of course it seems like he will want to stay with the team as long as possible. However, it would be nice to see LeBeau accept more of a defensive consultant and promote Keith Butler to DC. Butler has been on the team for 10 years, the guy knows the defense.
And it would help a lot if the Steelers could get some new college blood in the coaching staff, particularly at linebacker. A college coach getting promoted to Steelers LB would give help the team new talent in the draft and ways to combat college offenses that will start heading into the NFL.

Yeah I think LeBeau will be back. Early in the year I though he would be gone, but after watching all year it's obvious that the players are the problem.
I don't see your scenario of LeBeau staying on as a consultant working out. The players would still look to him as the lead guy and not Butler.
It's a tough thing for Tomlin, because LeBeau does need to go at some point. And with a certain influx of young players coming soon, now would seem a good time. I'm fine if he stays and fine if he "retires."
Not Bruce Arains "retires" obviously. Lol.

I don't see a problem with LeBeau still coaching guys up as long as it's Butler coming up with the schemes and game plans with input from LeBeau. Think of it this way it would be like Manning controlling an offense, with the OC giving some input and helps the rest of the players along haha.

Some good news. pre season stand out DE Bian Arnfelt has been promoted to the roster and cut ILB Kion WIlson. Presumably because Keisel has been injured the last few weeks with a plantar faciitis. Unfortunately I'm afraid Da' Beard has played his last snap as a Steeler...

Where is the media outrage? Oh this one went against us so no one cares. I forgot. Hey maybe this will help our cause in the absurd "draft pick punishment." NAH.....

I'm sorry but if the coach RUNS INTO the ref, how do you not throw the flag? This is why the whole Tomlin issue was BS. It's the ref's fuck up, just as much as his.

It would have put the Steelers on the 25 I think which is absolutely striking distance for this offense...

Not that it really matters, I don't think I would have ever noticed the coach on the field if it was pointed out, and the Steelers didn't really deserve to win that game anyways. It's just irritating that the NFL is so inconsistent.
Here's to hoping Brown, Bell, Wheaton, Jones, Beachum (the whole OL really), Heyward, Hood, and Thomas has a great game tonight, and no injuries.
