Not gonna write too much for this one.
Nicks is in his contract year, and many speculate that he will be asking for a contract in the 10-12 million range, annually.
The Giants WILL have the money to get him back, but should they use a big chunk of their money to get him back? If they sign him to his speculated desired contract terms, the Giants will not even be able to sign anyone else it seems.
The Giants have a boat load of problems to fix. However, getting rid of Nicks might have them biting themselves for realizing that they took away a big part of the team.
However, if they cannot get him back, why let him go for free. But another question is - will teams give a lot to pay him 10-12 million when they can possibly get him in FA without giving compensation?
Nicks would be a WR1 on about 20 teams, so teams could clearly use someone of his talent and ability. What do you guys think? Should the Giants deal Nicks to help with the retooling/rebuilding process? Or pay him and keep him as a foundation of their retool/rebuild?

The duo of Nicks and Cruz is what has been making it work in Big Blue. They shouldn't trade him and need to try everything they can to get him back. A line is the next priority, but without your superstars even the best line won't help you win games, Nicks will. He's enough of a presence to help draw coverage off of Cruz, who then is able to burn defenses, and it goes vice versa as well.

His durability takes Value away from a trade standpoint? Don't you think? Or has he been healthy lately?
From what he's done this season and last....is he worth the contract to you?

How old is Nicks? I remember a few years ago he was a TD beast. But last year he was weak it seems. This year he is average. Trading him would depend on what you could get. I doubt anyone would trade unless he agreed to a deal. How old is he?

Well this depends on how you view the Giants long term. Obviously 0-5 is a terrible start, and they have a very good chance at a top 10 or top 5 pick. Are the Giants in position to sign him long term and continue to build on there team? I know Eli has a huge salary next season, Cruz has a fairly big salary, Antrell Rolle has a fairly big salary. Usually teams arnt good long term when they have 3 or 4 players taking up the majority of there salary cap.
Realistically you arnt going to get more than a mid round draft pick for a player in this situation. I think most teams looking to trade for him would be looking at him as a 1 year rental, and then would consider resigning him during the offseason. There really arnt a lot of contenders that I can think of that would be willing to make this trade.
I guess if you can get rid of him, and get a mid round pick go for it. Honestly the Giants may want to consider taking any offer they can get. I just dont see him being there long term, with 1 receiver already locked up to a big deal.

Actually I can see Baltimore in league for a WR. They aren't really a contender right now, but they still can make the playoffs in the weak division (as it stands now). Philly also could use another WR as a depth signing / potential starter to pull pressure off of DJax.

I think they could trade him for anything. But only as a last resort. If there is much chance they could resign nicks, I hope they do. So odds are they either get him or he walks.
It's normally hard for teams to afford 2 top tier WRs.

Yes..he should be traded. They have Randle who is a pretty good rec waiting in the wings. Two young recs in him and Cruz for a long time. Eli got around 5 or 6 more years left. He needs to go to the Peyton Manning QB camp though for his INT problem. Giants are fixing to be in rebuild mode so get ready for it.
Of course it wont take 15 years like some teams I know to get back.

He will have lots of 'Don't do this' stories and tape next year. And I actually sense some raider fan in that statement. Kudos Jeff
