The neck injury second-year running back David Wilson suffered on the last play of the first quarter last Sunday against the Eagles is likely going to keep him off the field for several weeks – and perhaps longer.
Wilson has an issue with a disk in his neck. He is undergoing treatment and will seek additional medical advice. He will travel to Los Angeles and will see neck specialist Dr. Robert Watkins on Monday.
Wilson was hurt when defensive end Cedric Thornton dropped Wilson for a 3-yard loss on a play that continued long enough for Wilson to be flung down into the end zone for what could have been ruled a safety but was not.
An NFL source indicated there is great concern that Wilson suffered a significant injury that could end his season and might necessitate surgery.

Wilson was by far my favorite back to come out of his draft. I really thought he had turned on a light at the end of last year. Really pleased me a lot.
It's a little heartbreaking to see his season so far this year and now maybe no chance to redeem himself. It doesn't feel like a stretch for the giants to grab a 3rd round back. Hope he recovers well and comes back amazing.

Ugh I hate seeing stuff like this because I know how bad it hurts. When those nerves get pinched and compressed it's no laughing matter. I'd like to say it brings back the painful memories, but the pain never went away.

David Wilson told reporters Friday doctors fear he suffers from spinal stenosis, and may miss the season's remainder.
He's got bigger problems than the rest of this year, if the initial diagnosis is true. Wilson will get a second opinion on his neck/spine Monday. Spinal stenosis has been known to shorten NFL careers, like that of former Redskins LT Chris Samuels. The 32nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, Wilson has rushed 115 times for 504 yards (4.4 YPC) and five touchdowns through two NFL seasons. He led the NFL in kickoff return yardage as a rookie last year.

This can POSSIBLY be career threatening, so let's hope for the best with his second opinion.

Ha.. This is so true. Thankfully, the reverse is also true. When it rains, it pours. But when things are going great, they're going f'ing great.
