I'd have a #7 seeded wild-card team because of situations like those. Such a change might have cost the Steelers the Superbowl in '08. We'll never know. Either way the #2 seed would no longer get a bye in the first round. It would make the #1 seed worth fighting for. thats not a good idea at all. keep it at 12. lets not start giving more free spots for teams, just like the NBA and NHL. NFL and MLB are the only big sports i like, because they do the postseason correct

Why would you change the NFL playoffs?? they are perfect right now. The only way I would ever add another couple teams is if the league ever ends up with 8 more expansion teams..

the scandal has alot to do with it. look what happened to the patriots the year after 2007 when they got in trouble for the spygate. they miss the playoffs contenders this year Didn't the patriots go 18-1 after the scandal? Am I messing up the years? I thought they got busted right at the beginning of the 16-0 regular season. they got busted after week 1 of the 2007 season i believe

I stopped reading once I saw the jets would be held to 3 points in 2 of their first 3 games. This is just another writer jumping on teams like the Bills, Panthers, and Chiefs who are all coming off worse years than NY. He'll get a reality check when the Jets crush Buffalo opening day.

saints will be fine. their record wont be worse than 10-6 and that should be good enough to at least a wild card spot
