The ABSOLUTE finest athletes in all of sports are figure skaters. ;D If I could tap my toe on the ice--jump up in the air and complete FOUR complete spins in the air before touching back down---on a sliver of a skate blade-- with my arms extended and fingers PERFECTLY turned out--AND then immediately jump back up and twirl around another three times---just cuz I could.--I would naturally expect a gold medal for my superior athletic brilliance.

I dunno, luge and skeleton look pretty hard, is there even a beginner's course for that, and a mistake can be costly, going what 100mph or 100km/hour? scary fast and only thing to break your fall is an ice wall or off the track itself.
Dunno you can really say finest athlete for any sport, all of them require something different and during the winter olympics I'm pretty sure they had some hockey players try the long track speed skating and it looked tough but the actual olympians like Kramer (poor guy lost a sure-fire gold medal) make it look effortless. I'm pretty sure none of us can do the moguls, do a quadruple twist and land on our skates, or even do what Shaun White did. It's hard to compare athletes across different sports, but figure skating deff looks hard

Figure skating is insanely impressive, its like combining gymnastics, dance and skating all things which are incredibly athletic in their own right. Then to add them all together, and to do some of the stuff they do on skates is pretty amazing. I couldn't do it.. Then again I still have yet to really figure out how the hell to stop on skates so anything aside from moving forward and turning(mostly left) is pretty impressive to me

I know how to stop on skates, yet to learn how to do one of those "hockey" stops without falling on my ass, I can skate backwards, if you count wiggling a few centimetres a minute skating backwards

Sadly its been years since I have gone skating.. I kinda miss it.. Maybe I should get back into shape and buy a pair of skates this winter..
