Not going there either. Just so people know what i'm planning: It'll be a Straight Pick'em but the scoring will be variable. Basically it's 19 points for a win, (plus or minus the ESPN handicap), and 0 for a loss. Half points will be rounded down on non-tied games. The minimum for any win will be 4 points and the maximum for any win will be 33 points. In the event of a tie you'll get 50% of the score you would have gotten for an outright win. Thursday games won't count but all other Saturday, Sunday, and Monday games will count. The maximum possible score will end up being around 4150, but this will be dependent on the level of favourites and underdogs that win. Most people will score around 51% of the maximum possible score and the winning score will likely be around 56.5%. It's possible to have huge scoring swings from week to week so if you can stay within 150 or so points of the leader you'll still have a chance to win the regular season title in Week 17. Essentially this Pick'em is picking against the money line. Week 1, (based on current handicap lines), might look something like this: Your Week 1 choices are: Panthers 16 or Broncos 21 Packers 14 or Jaguars 23 Bills 21 or Ravens 16 Bears 24 or Texans 13 Browns 25 or Eagles 12 Buccaneers 21 or Falcons 16 Vikings 15 or Titans 22 Bengals 17 or Jets 20 Raiders 20 or Saints 17 Chargers 25 or Chiefs 12 Dolphins 26 or Seahawks 11 Lions 24 or Colts 13 Giants 22 or Cowboys 15 Patriots 23 or Cardinals 14 Steelers 15 or Redskins 22 Rams 17 or 49ers 20 I'm really only interested in the regular season part of this Pick'em. There will be a post season challenge loosely based on MrCincinnati 's system and since everyone should be within a 1900 - 2360 range everyone would still have a chance to win that. It would also be a reason not to give up if someone was behind in the regular season. Just to let you know, there will be a pick'em game on PSR this year. No guarantee I will be running the show, but assuming I can get a few people on there to vouch for me, chances are I will picking up right where I left off. If that happens, any of you that don't want to post on PSR are more than welcome to joining. If not, feel free to do whatever you wish on here if your planning on going through with this plan of yours.

I won't be joining PSR and I won't be joining a Straight Pick'em with identical scores for each pick. I remember PSR from its early days when ESPN went down. It's not the shit-storm it was then but it's still not for me. I have no issue with your Pick'em but I don't find the regular season part of it interesting or entertaining. There's no incentive to pick against a favourite so a 4-year-old with no knowledge of football can auto-pick every favourite and do very well. If you or someone else is running a Pick'em here or at PSR for either or both sets of members then i'll happily step aside. I see no benefit in 2 Pick'ems competing for participants amongst a small membership base. I'll be running this form of Pick'em again for a 2nd year on a Rams site and my interest was to compare how 2 different NFL fan groups compared.

MrCincinnati I guess you don't know most of us have been banned from PSR. I will be soon. Those childish peeps are not for us. I'm glad you like it. Good luck to you. If you and LAB want to do this lets do it at CTM PB.

lostabroad2 as I said before, if I was running the pick'em game on PSR, you would not have to be a member on there for those that still want to play. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't bother them if I did that either, and even if it did, I promise to leave a spot for any of you at the table, should I get the job. I can understand why you don't like going with the classic pick'em way, but that's how all pick'em games are these days. You are allowed to do as you please when it comes to how you want to run it on here, and I encourage you to go forth with what you want to do and you should not use PSR as an excuse to not do so. Again though, I don't know who's going to be in charge of a pick'em game there yet, but sometime next week I will ask Fleet about this. larryb I had no knowledge of any of you being banned. I thought dive just deleted her old profile or something. Being banned doesn't really mean anything though, unless of course he gave you an IP ban. Completely understandable as to why none of you want to post on there, but I bet at least one of you will change your mind down the road. Taking a break is the best thing you and some of the other people on here should do. Believe me, it helps. So matter what, I promise, if any of you want to get a second chance on there, and if you need me to get your foot back in the door, I will be there.

I'm not banned. I was just saying the names you mentioned some of them are. So they couldn't play there. You can do it on more than one forum right?

I'm not interested in running a Pick'em for a small number of people. It would take almost as much time to run with 8 people as it would for 50. People generally won't commit to more than 1 Pick'em and i'm not competing for members amongst a small group. This project was something I mentioned to larryb in passing. The member I most wanted to participate was TonOdanK as he was the only member to break the 'every favourite' mark last year. I thank him for his interest and I hope he'll still be interested later in the year. I'll be running this on at least 1 other much larger forum and i'll probably look at other larger forums for a 2nd group. My interest is results data and enjoyment level feedback. I have no issue with PSR. Their members can behave as they see fit on their forum, members from here who join PSR can behave at PSR as they see fit, and PSR moderators can moderate as they see fit. It's none of my business.

They aren't banning everyone on that other site (at least not that I know of). A lot of posters just got tired of their culture of attacking everyone for saying or thinking anything at all. I made a comment that I was irritated by their constant use of words like "retard" and "fag", and by the way they treat women there, and the overwhelming response was to call me, and everyone else, a retarded fag. I never asked them to stop saying that, only commented that it irritates me... but the reaction was so absurd. No one is trying to sensor them, but it's to the point where even acknowledging that you don't like something makes you an immediate target for most of their base.
I don't like playing the us versus them game though. They have many members that are great as well (even some of the immature ones who just get caught up in the culture they have built there), and we have our share of idiots. Eddie and beast are no better than the worst of the bunch over there. They might not always talk the same way, but that's because we haven't bred a culture where that kind of talk is quite so acceptable. I left that site because it's clearly not for me. But I miss having a place to go to discuss random events, issues, and especially once football starts up again, all of the football stuff.

I was banned for.... no time to explain, but trust me, it is coming. Fleet took any negative thing I said about PSR, and even MarchingOn, and spin-doctored the hell out of it. Many, many errors of omission, and a few lies. I had no issues with a single soul there except for Kimber, who Fleet is probably obsessed with. Gotta run... I'll be back here, and CTM too of course.

Honestly, I'm just as embarrassed at how many of the people from our site have been acting at PSR. I didn't agree with everything you said, nor the way you handled the disagreements over there. Same goes for Craig and many of the others; and I would expect that many feel the same way about me. I don't think we are any better than they are. It's just that the way things are done there, it brings out an uglier side of many of us. To me it's the same as if you start working at a job where people swear more. You will likely start to swear more yourself, because you've been exposed to that and it starts to become natural for you. At PSR, they treat everyone like shit; each other and new people. After a while, the instinct isn't to talk things out rationally, it's to call them a fucking moron (or retard, though I don't like to use that word at all) and shit all over anything they have to say because that's just how people have done things there for a while.
I still read a bit on that site because there is a lot of interesting discussions if you can block all the other 80% that's just pettiness and garbage, I just refuse to comment on anything for now, because it's pointless. I read Craig's meltdown where he went around demanding an apology for a guy making a personal attack on him. That was pathetic to read, and I don't blame them for mocking the way Craig was acting. On that site, calling people a little bitch is the norm... demanding apologies and respect has no place there.
