Not going there either.
Just so people know what i'm planning:
It'll be a Straight Pick'em but the scoring will be variable. Basically it's 19 points for a win, (plus or minus the ESPN handicap), and 0 for a loss. Half points will be rounded down on non-tied games. The minimum for any win will be 4 points and the maximum for any win will be 33 points. In the event of a tie you'll get 50% of the score you would have gotten for an outright win. Thursday games won't count but all other Saturday, Sunday, and Monday games will count. The maximum possible score will end up being around 4150, but this will be dependent on the level of favourites and underdogs that win. Most people will score around 51% of the maximum possible score and the winning score will likely be around 56.5%. It's possible to have huge scoring swings from week to week so if you can stay within 150 or so points of the leader you'll still have a chance to win the regular season title in Week 17.
Essentially this Pick'em is picking against the money line. Week 1, (based on current handicap lines), might look something like this:
Your Week 1 choices are:
Panthers 16 or Broncos 21
Packers 14 or Jaguars 23
Bills 21 or Ravens 16
Bears 24 or Texans 13
Browns 25 or Eagles 12
Buccaneers 21 or Falcons 16
Vikings 15 or Titans 22
Bengals 17 or Jets 20
Raiders 20 or Saints 17
Chargers 25 or Chiefs 12
Dolphins 26 or Seahawks 11
Lions 24 or Colts 13
Giants 22 or Cowboys 15
Patriots 23 or Cardinals 14
Steelers 15 or Redskins 22
Rams 17 or 49ers 20
I'm really only interested in the regular season part of this Pick'em. There will be a post season challenge loosely based on
MrCincinnati's system and since everyone should be within a 1900 - 2360 range everyone would still have a chance to win that. It would also be a reason not to give up if someone was behind in the regular season.
