This thread is inteded for talk about the Broncos roster moves, signings, draft and other 2016 season discussion. If you have nothing to contribute to those topics, you have no reason to post here. Please do not troll this thread and try to derail actual team discussion, there are many places you can do that elsewhere on this forum.

Who do you think would be the best free agent option for starting QB for the Broncos? I know this was directed at Saska but I'm gonna jump in on this discussion. Tim Tebow!................. sorry... had to. I personally think either RG3 or Matt Moore would be smart for them. Im still not done with RG3 and I want to see him get another chance. I really believe he has more to give and that he could turn his career around yet. Moore on the other hand is a solid veteran QB who never got the love he deserved. Big play ability and with receivers like DT and Sanders he could look good. Unlike RG3 he would be purely a stop gap guy. Either way, no matter who I signed I would be looking at drafting a QB. Id be looking at trading up for Lynch at this moment.

Who do you think would be the best free agent option for starting QB for the Broncos? Like Jindred said, I think RG3 could be a decent option. He shouldn't cost very much and our defence is good enough to give him some room to gain back his confidence. I remember how good he looked in his first year. If there is any of that left in him, if want him on my team, but that's a high risk/high reward scenario that could fail miserably. Also, as much as I don't really like Kaep, I'm curious if he could be productive with us. There have been talks about us looking at trading for him. If the price is right I wouldn't be upset with that option either. I don't expect us to find a franchise QB who starts right away anywhere this year, unless we trade up for Lynch, but Kaep and RG3 hold the most potential. Everyone else would simply be a fill in role until we decide where we want to find our next "guy".

Who do you think would be the best free agent option for starting QB for the Broncos? Fitzgerald by a landslide. And after RG3, it gets downright stupid. Id be looking at trading up for Lynch at this moment. Loved RG3 in his draft and beyond, his biggest fan, wanna see him get a 2nd chance for sure as well. But have reservations on several levels for the Broncos. May be biased here we go.... 1) Ego? Even if you don't buy into everything Chris Cooley said (I believe it's mostly true) maybe a non-issue... Out of the Combine, he was the Savior. To a crappy team with a few semi-stars (D Hall, L Fletcher). Hello Superbowl champions, a team with many superstars, on the heals of Peyton, GOAT of course. The team will squash him like a bug (not really, but laugh and lose respect) if he steps out of line. So probably a non-issue cuz he won't do that. He's smarter than ego-driven. 2)a) Their (only glaring weak spot) o-line sucks and 2)b) RG3 has not proven to be durable. Fitzpatrick OTOH, is almost the antithesis. I think the team would embrace him. He's humble, and a 'game manager extraordinaire'. Like no worse than Alex Smith? And no health issue history, yes? I see him as the ideal fit out of what's left. But it seems they're leaning towards Kaepy, who I really don't like.

So update on some of our happenings:
1) Miller still hasn't signed a long term deal. The hope is that it gets done before offseason training begins. The sooner the better for this deal, because then we will know what else we have to work with in terms of cap space for the rest of our team. A deal will get done eventually, but I hope the same thing doesn't happen with Miller that happened with DT last year. DT's season really suffered this year (drops) likely as a result of starting from behind after missing the OTA's.
2) QB's are still a hot topic. Sounds like the Kaep talks are dwindling away. Right now we only have Sanchez and Siemian. They aren't going to hand Sanchez the keys that easily, and while Siemian does show some potential, it's unlikely that he'll be capable of competing for the starting job yet. Some say that if he continues to develop, he could push for #1 next season if the spot is still up for grabs in any way, but for now we need to bring in at least 1 or 2 more guys. I don't want us to overpay for Fitz. I'd like to see us sign RG3 or trade a mid-level pick for a guy like Glennon, McCarron or Hoyer. Then draft someone like Lynch, Cook, Preston or Hackenberg that we can get with our 1st or 2nd round pick. At this point, ideally, I would like to see us have Sanchez, Siemian, Glennon (maybe trade a 5th, or trade a 3rd and receive a lower pick back as well) and Preston (with a 2nd round pick).
It's not a good situation any way you look at it, but with a very strong defense still kept mostly in tact, we can still be a very competitive team ever with mediocrity behind center. And making the QBs fight for the spot should bring out the best in them.
3) Brandon Marshall is seen as a solid long term option for the team. Trevathan was great, but apprently the team sees Marshall as a better option as a 3-down linebacker who can be equally effective in the run and pass games. Trevathan was fast and great in coverage, but he was less effective as a run-stopper. It sounds like we are likely to try and ink Marshall to a long term deal, but it probably won't happen until after we get Miller's deal done.
4) Our O-line situation seems to be playing out as such: Okung, if healthy, will be our LT. Stephenson will likely play RT. Sombrailo and Schofield are likely to move inside and Max Garcia will play center to start the season. Clady will probably be traded away at a low value (if a team is willing to take on his large contract and injury-prone record) or released. We will have to add some depth for sure, and maybe even draft some interior guys who can compete for a starting role with Sombrailo and Schofield.
5) We resigned Jordan Norwood to a small, 1 year deal. Pretty minor signing, but we didn't really have any returners on our roster before this. Both him and Bolden were free agents, and it sounds like Bolden won't be back.

For me, I'd rather have that then say 30 games spread out over the past 4 years. Jindred - no one's doing it here, but there are 2 main ways to spin this (but the stat possibilities on more quantifiable stats than o-line are limitless): 1) He's missed 30 games in the past 3 seasons 2) He only missed even a single game in 2 out of 8 seasons in the NFL. 6 years of 16 games. Anyway, IDK what Clady is due, but I'd hate to see him go. He's a very top talent, not sure but I believe he was considered like elite, maybe top 5, easily 10 at his position. I just feel the below avg o-line is bad enough. Couple that with a sub-par and/or inexperienced QB, is a recipe for disaster. Peyton's performance had certainly declined greatly, but he was still himself - still the sheriff, the coach, the leader, the genius. You're not gonna get any of that with anyone out there. RG3 is gone. Chip wants Kaep, and I'll bet the Jets want Fitz too.

He was very good for several years but he's making over $10 million a year and he's only stayed healthy one of the last three seasons. Saying he used to not be injury prone is not really relevant, because he clearly is now. As for Peyton last year, he was not himself. When healthy he was a turnover machine that failed to generate anything significant (on the positive side) on offence. I am one of the bigger Peyton fans out there, but I'm not going to say that he was still himself. Our team got where we did last year because of our defence. They created big turnovers at important times and often scored the points themselves. Our running game wasn't much, our receivers didn't do much and our QB didn't do much. I would like to see our offence improve this year, but it's pretty unlikely that it will go downhill from last year. We were near the bottom of the league in several categories and the only meaningful offensive stat where we were above average was time of posession (we were 3 seconds above the league average). Our offence needs work, but it needed just as much work last year and we still won the Super Bowl.

Our offence needs work, but it needed just as much work last year and we still won the Super Bowl. That's not what I meant. "Still himself", meaning he was all the things I mentioned. Clearly he was not his old self in his ability to execute. It wasn't lapses in judgement. His body could no longer do what he always had huge success in doing to win games. That's an important point. He was not a game manager. We might've actually been better off with one, cuz it resulted in costly mistakes. It's academic now. TOP 3 seconds above avg is a meaningful stat? IDK exactly what you mean by that, but here's one explanation... Our defense was quick and relentless. lol Depending on what Clady's injuries were, he may be injury-prone, or simply extremely unlucky. I should, but don't recall. I don't like what I've seen of Schofield, maybe he'll improve. I just feel that shoring up that o-line is job #1, right up there with QB. You can do only so much in the draft, especially with last pick. TEs even in the league already are plentiful, at least compared to last year. They can get a serviceable one even 3rd or 4th round maybe. It's really the least of my worries.
