I'm sorry. I've given them a year and I still can't get over them. I can honestly say I've all but forgotten Jacksonville's hideous black to gold helmet. It's being overshadowed by just how ridiculous Tampa's uniforms are. I know, I know, it's just a uniform. Who cares about uniforms? It's just colors. What really matters is the players, the team, and ultimately the win/loss record...but I just can't hold this in. Those uniform are just fucking horrid. There was NOTHING wrong with the red and pewter uniforms. These new uniforms are even worse than the Bucs expansion era creamsicle uniforms. Just...I....what....it...I...it...it makes no aesthetic sense. It's ugly. It's counterproductive to creating an attractive and domineering uniform that makes fans go "oh, that's cool!" Instead it's like "lol, what the fuck?" I'd make a CFL reference, but I think even Canada has better taste than that. Ultimately though, you can't even really blame Nike. The Bucs are the ones who approved the design. There is just absolutely nothing attractive or even remotely appealing about those muted brown uniforms.
I do like the chrome facemasks, but when helmet equipment is the only good part of your uniform, you know you fucked up somewhere.

Roughriders The pants here are totally bad ass. IDK why more NFL teams don't go with something like this, as I've suggested in the past for the Cowboys - and whatever color that helmet is, make it silver. And pick 1 blue - any blue - and go with it, not royal and navy. Ugh. Anyway, this jersey is effed up on every level. The dark green is fine, the other green needs to be 'mint', not 'kelly'. Then start from scratch. They apparently tried their best to eff up the numbers from traditional. What is that...thing? Not a chevron, wtf is that? The whole thing looks like it's trying too hard, and fails, fails, fails. Same fail as above for the Bucs. Every last thing Nike did to that uni was for the worse. A hideous abomination of epic proportions. Even the nicest part of their outfit, the helmet, bigger ain't always better. Had to be one person with no sense of style whatsoever that approved that cringe-invoking outfit. |
