Bobby freakin Wagner is now the highest paid middle linebacker of all time. That means he is a better player than Junior Seau, Mike Singletary, Dick Butkus, Ray Lewis, Jack Lambert, Ray Nitschke, Brian Urlacher, Patrick Willis, Sam Huff, and Paul Posluszny.
What else is fucking hilarious is that Kam Chancellor is holding out of Seahawks camp until he gets a new contract. LMAO! HE'S ONLY 2 YEARS INTO HIS DEAL AND HAS THREE YEARS LEFT ON IT. THREE YEARS LEFT ON HIS DEAL AND HE'S HOLDING OUT FOR A NEW CONTRACT! Btw, he's making $7 million a year...and he wants more...with three years left on his deal. Are we seriously at that point where a rookie can throw a touchdown on opening day and then threaten to hold out for a new contract because he's "outplayed" his contract? Greedy cocksuckers.

Wagner IS better than he ever was honestly. Since when does contract money, especially for players who played when gas cost $1 a gallon, ever reflect how good the player is? Wagner signed the most recent market setting contract, so he will be the highest paid ever, that's how it works. Joe Flacco and Romo were the highest paid when they signed contracts. The only way the Seahawks can keep Wagner was to give him a contract in that range, and so it was the right choice for a super bowl contender.

Urlacher made more money over his career than Ray Lewis I think. So, obviously whoever makes the most money is the best player. Revis is gunning for GOAT over any other player. As far as the Chancellor thing. It's easy to call these guys greedy. But teams have -no problem- cutting guys who don't live up to their contracts. None at all. Why are we hating on players who out perform their contracts wanting to make more? Especially at a position like DB. They only have so long to make their money. The Franchise Tag number for Safety this year was like, 9.5 million give or take. So yeah, he's probably close to being a top 5 safety, and his play is better than his contract. Part of that is his issue, because he extended early before he broke out and was elite, because he wanted the money right then instead of waiting for leverage etc. But by no means should we villainize these players for trying to get their millions in a multi billion dollar sport.

Dude's making $7 mill a year and has three years left on his contract is holding out. NFL players are greedy little bitches. I could see if he were making league minimum, had a year or two left on his deal, and out played his contract. That's not the situation. If the Seahawks give in to this asshole, they'll be setting a very bad precedent that they can be rolled over on by anyone. Then anybody in the NFL will start doing that to their team. If I'm the Seahawks, I thank Kam Chancellor for his service and tell him The Legion of Boom can make a star out off his replacement, so, sianara motherfucker.

In addition to Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner both being overpaid and Kam Chancellor laughably wanting a new contract, Bruce Irvin sent out this tweet, which ancient cryptologists have determined is in fact English.

Yeah they probably are greedy little bitches. But honestly I don't think the actual money is the main issue. The players care about how they are valued. It's an ego thing and players use salary as a way of comparing their value to other players in the league. These guys want confirmation that they are 'elite' so they want to be paid more than other players that they think are not as good. The amounts of money getting thrown around in professional sports is absurd, but the real issue is that so many players just want to be paid the most money, regardless of the actual value of it. If the highest salary was only 1 million a year, I'm sure Kam would be more than happy making 1.5 million.

Teams that cave shoot themselves and other teams in the foot. But the players agents are playing a game of chicken, and they are winning.

Teams that cave shoot themselves and other teams in the foot. But the players agents are playing a game of chicken, and they are winning. Players, especially the greats ones have all the leverage, either you pay them and have them on your team to help you win, or you don't pay them and some other team does. It would be nice to see teams have more leverage than just money. Two ways to solve this would to be A) Cap what you can pay each player individually. The max could be something like 10 million a year minimum like 500k for rookie contacts, 1m for vets. (numbers are just examples) That way the max you could ever pay a player is set. Once you offer them that no team can outbid you, it then comes down to ok where do I want to play? That in itself could be a problem though as the rich teams might just continually get richer.. B) You could do a flat rate payment in the league. Although based on things like if you are a Rookie or a vet or whether you are a starter or a backup and some other distinctions, then go on a purely incentive based contract. You get X number of starts under your belt and you make X number of dollars, or you make a probowl you get X number of dollars and many other things. That way nobody ever gets over paid. You get paid based on your production. Neither will ever happen of course but its fun to think about.

Not only fun to think about, the high powers have gotta been thinking about it for a long time. Lots of interesting possibilities you mention. But many flies in the ointment, so no one wants to be the first to stick their ass out there. Another game of chicken. lol
