You will have a blast!
When do you leave/return?
We leave Aug 11 (arriving evening of Aug 12 - you are much closer to this place than me) and return Aug 27. My sis-in-law (and her sis, also coming) is from Hua-Hin (King's palace, 2 hour drive south of Bangkok). They own a house, but not set up with beds, so we're staying at a hotel. then Cambodia 4 days, another 3 days in Bangkok, and back to Hua-Hin. My SIL and her sis have family and friends at both of course. Also 2 trips to a clinic (to rework a hearing aid - drop off/pick up) much cheaper there than here. I want no part of that and the 3 social calls, as I see it taking up at least a whole day. These people speak no English, and there are many sights I could see instead. I'll probably do it alone, and we get SIM cards.
At any rate, I'll be gone from Aug 10 - Aug 28, at least a day on either side of flight dates, as we all leave and return to/from my brother's house. But just maybe 15 usable full days there.
I don't mind at all at this point going back to Hua-Hin and hitting the beach with my snorkel gear. Already been to Bangkok and Phuket 12 years ago. Wanted to go back to Phuket, but it's their rainy season, no dive boats going out, and everything I've read says even snorkeling (GREAT in Phuket) is very dangerous due to the weather/currents/undertow - people surf. That is west coast, Hua-Hin is east. Crappy snorkeling but possible, and safer.

See I'm jealous now. Ibiza in Spain just doesn't compare (for those of you out there who are aware of Ibiza, I shall be frequenting the more relaxed and family friendly Northern part of the island as opposed to the drug, alcohol and clubbing orientated South West of the island!!!!! Those days are long gone!!!

We got a rip-off organized tour of Cambodia. MY SIL never been to Angkor Wat, we said fine sounds great. Even my brother was rolling his eyes at all the temples which were basically dilapidated ugly ruins. lol We switched the itin a bit as we have a private guide. Neil, I been to the grand Palace in Bangkok, and a few others. They are grand indeed, something to see, so I wanna go back. Hopefully it won't be as hot as last time which made the whole experience surreal. But this Angkor Wat thing is like too much money down the toilet. lol Really, everything there is a lot cheaper than even Bangkok. And the transportation alone render it ridiculous. What's done is done.
Ibiza, now I'm jealous!!! Hey, you're making it sound just like Phuket. lol The Patong Beach to the north is the one packed full of the young scantily clad party animals. I prefer the ones to the south at Karon and further south Kata, more for quiet and family. Better snorkeling too.
