Watching a movie like that does not affect my faith. Will never affect it. Maybe not, but watching a movie like that, is sinful because as sinful, lustful creatures, there is no way we can watch that and be unaffected. It's like saying looking at crud on the internet is okay because it doesn't affect your faith. Well, no it may not, okay, but that doesn't make it not sinful. Watching people on screen do the things they (I assume) they do in that movie is just wrong as far as our faith goes. As far as the self-righteous people sending hateful tweets to Wilson, they need to take a look in the mirror. Maybe it's my complete dislike of religion, in general, but I don't understand what is so sinful about this movie. They are a couple who gets involved in an S&M type of sex. I get that they are not married, but why would this be considered more sinful than the majority of other movies that deal with non-marriage, sexual relationships? Is S&M sex more sinful that normal sex? Is watching sexual scenes, or just seeing nudity, more sinful than watching people kill people? I really don't understand the religious outrage over sex whiel being so perfectly content with violence.

The same thing as with my rant about people criticizing Obama's actions regarding ISIS, I would like to see someone break down the specific reasons as to why this movie is so sinful, rather than the general outrage that it is a sinful film. People are so quick to get outraged about things, but when you break it down and really focus on the details of the issue, you might find that it's not as bad as you think, or not as different from many other things that you do accept. Don't get me wrong... I have no desire to see this movie. But it obviously has nothing to do with religious reasons... It just sounds like a stupid plot. For those curious, here is a breakdown of the story that I read to get an idea of what it is about. It contains many spoilers, so if you don't want the plot ruined, don't read it. sarabynoe.com/tag/plot-summary/

I don't see how the media can not talk about ISIS. They put out video's of beheadings. If the media said nothing it would still be on the internet. I think the media has no choice.
Fifty shades of grey. I have no comment. I don't pay much attention to it.
I'm involved on face book right now with a big discussion on pro vs anti vaccines. I'd like some of you guys input. Maybe I'll start a thread on that. Or use my thread. Which is better?

Two major differences between ISIS and Boko Haram. One is bent on exporting itself as far as possible, the other is pretty much localized. And the second: ISIS is a potential threat to oil reserves.
As for the other issue, too many people are far too involved with trying to control other people's lives.

Maybe I'll start a thread on that. Or use my thread. Which is better? Vaccines are a very popular topic within my group of friends, since my wife is a microbiologist and has many microbiologist friends, and I also have several friends who are nurses. I am not sure if I know any true anti-vaxers... but I do know a few people who are skeptical. I have no problem with being a skeptic (in fact I strongly encourage skepticism), but when there is blatant scientific evidence that proves the effectiveness of vaccines, and zero evidence to suggest any significant negative side effects, then there should be enough evidence to snuff out the skepticism. Let me clarify that the flu vaccine is slightly different, but I think it is still necessary. The flu virus mutates much more than other viruses that have vaccines, and at a rapid pace. The doctors developing the flu vaccine have to make an educated guess as to which strain of the virus they are vaccinating against. They make an A and B strain within the vaccine. They know enough to get it close, but sometimes the strain mutates in a way they didn't predict and the flu vaccine isn't as effective as they would like. This year the A wasn't overly successful, but B is typicaly more accurate and it was more effective. As for others, like measels. Parents who don't vaccinate their children are stupid, selfish and dangerous to many others. The measels and mumps and other such diseases have not mutated in hundreds of years. Doctors know that the vaccines will work almost all the time to prevent the disease. Some bodies just don't seem to take to the vaccines though, so it is not 100% effective. There are also people, like elderly, very young children, and immunocompromised people who cannot receive vaccines. People who are able to get those vaccines but refuse to do so put those others who are unable to receive the vaccines at risk. Jon Stewart used a good analogy regarding vaccines. He said, imagine a house being attacked by zombies. Every able bodied person is put in charge of boarding up a door or window If everyone else does their job to keep out the zombies, the young, sick and elderly will be safe, even though they can't protect themselves. But if some asshole decides that he doesn't want to board up his window because some non-qualified moron told him that boarding up windows causes autism, then the zombies can get in his window and attack the helpless people who can't defend themselves. There was one paper published regarding a correlation between vaccines and a rise in autism. Shortly after that paper was published, it was retracted because the author falsified data and the paper was determined to hold no real truth. Even if there is a slight correlation, correlation does not equal causation. For instance, there is a very strong correlation between the number of films Nicholas Cage appears in per year vs amount of people who drowned falling into a swimming pool ( source) but those two clearly have nothing to do with each other.

My daughter is a prenatal genetic counselor. She says what you say. If you want to meet a total skeptic anti vaxer I will turn you on to one. Or I could post some stuff from her. She is amazingly obsessed. She just filled up my time line with twenty posts. All I did was ask her what happened to her son. She had said he got injured. She has already blocked my daughter. LOL. Its actually funny.

I got as few vaccinations as I needed to.

I got as few vaccinations as I needed to. Which ones are completely unnecessary? Remember that it's not just for you. It's also protecting people like young children, elderly people, pregnant women and sick people who are not able to receive vaccines and who are more susceptible to those diseases.
