Welcome to this weeks bengals weekly game preview between the bengals and colts
GAME SCHEDULE
the bengals will be playing the colts in indianapolis on august 30th at 7 PM ET. game is not national televised, but it will be on for both parts of indianapolis and cincinnati since the game sold out. the bengals will wear there white away jerseys this game
RUNDOWN
just like a year ago, the colts were playoff contenders while the bengals were not. now the colts are looking to go in rebuilding mode while the bengals will hope to get back to the playoffs once more. however in a couple of years, you would have to say that andrew luck is gonna be 3 times a better QB than dalton will be
HISTORY
the bengals were riding a 7 game winning streak on the colts in preseason until last year when the colts beat them 17-13 in cincinnati. last time both teams played each other in preseason in indy, the bengals won 30-28 in 2010. this has been somewhat of a rivalry since the colts are the closest team to cincinnati, so both fanbases obviously have alot to say something to one and another. both the colts and bengals have played each other in the final week of preseason from all the way back to 2001. in 2000 they did play each other in preseason, but did from 1992 to 1999. last time both teams played in the regular season, the bengals beat the colts 27-17 in 2011. last time the colts beat the bengals was 23-17 in 2010
5 THINGS I WANT TO SEE
5.Win the game. it doesnt count, but i like going into the regular season with some momentum. wins help bring a teams confidence up, even if it doesnt cout
4.Now or never for someone to step up at WR. everybody keeps thinking the bengals have a good WR core, but they dont. because nobody is doing a good job for the exception of marvin jones, but he wont be starting at #2. brandon tate and armon binns have looked very bad when getting a chance to play at WR. this is the last chance for someone to step it up here
3.Running game needs to do better now. law firm will not play this game once again, and benard scott will not either. brian leonard will get the call once more but he hasnt looked good in both of his starts. if he has to come in for law firm for whatever, things are not gonna look good.
2.Score on the first drive of the game. the bengals starters will only get one series this game, so that means they need to score out right or at least make a decent drive. cincy has went 3 and out on all there opening drives this year. with the exception of the backups taking the place of some of the starters, all the other starters will not play much
1.No more injuries please. if i see another injury on this team, im gonna jump out the fucking window. ok just kiddin. but seriously, im pissed with all of these injuries. 9 bengals starters, I REPEAT, 9 bengal starters have been hurt in preseason so far. RB law firm, TE jermaine gresham, DE carlos dunlap, OLB manny lawson, ILB rey maualuga, CB leon hall, S taylor mays, and 2 starters already on the OL out for the season, OG travelle wharton, and C kyle cook. kyle cook was very recent which i will get too soon. as long as the injuries continue on this team, they will flop this year
PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR
5.S George Lloka. i dont think his spot is guaranteed on the roster just yet because he hasnt had a good preseason. this secondary will have a nice test against the colts this week, and lloka must do better in coverage
4.CB Terence Newman. he was better last week, but now lets see him play against the colts young WRs like donnie avery and t.y hilton. secondary has been a complete joke, so time to prove your not washed up newman
3.RB Brian Leonard. in 2 starts in the preseason hes been pretty awful. law firm will be ready for week 1, but his backup benard scott will likely not, so leonard would have to split some time with law firm once the season begans. and thats not a good thing unless leonard has a monster game
2.WR Armon Binns. its now or never for him. ive liked this guy alot in camp but hes been a disappointment in preseason. i think hes the best option to start at #2 WR, but he must have a very good game here. he needs to win this job for the good of the team
1.OG/C Trevor Robinson. the undrafted rookie from notre dame is trying to get on the roster as hes played very good this preseason. recently the injury of starting C kyle cook who has slowly developed into one of the best C in the game now is likely out for the season now. robinson wont be starting week 1 unless he plays good. if he can handle the colts starters, he will make the roster
PREDICTION
the bengals have owned the colts in preseason till last year, but that was because the colts have rested there starters alot and they had manning. they have andrew luck now and they handle preseason a new way now. i think the streak is about to diffrently now here. ironically whatever i predict the bengals to do, im 0-3 so far this year. will i go 0-4?
