You leave out legendary Hall of Famers like Chuck Bednarik and Steve Van Buren because of stats and you claim this is an "All Time Roster". That is just stupid. Concrete Charlie played in the same era as Jim Brown. Leaving those two players off because of stats is ignorant and shortsighted. You aren't giving them proper respect. I am willing to be you haven't been an NFL fan for very long. I can't agree more. There's really NO reason to have TWO punters and TWO kickers on the team either. If you're gonna say: "Who do I take off the roster for those two?" at their respective positions, it's not a position by position trade off. Steve Van Buren was one of the greatest players of any era, as was Bednarik. It's not as simple as to say: "Look at the raw numbers" to determine such things. The sport's history is littered with great stories and legends, if only people took the time to read some of them. For instance, Steve Van Buren's trip to the NFL Championship Game during a snowstorm... BTW - I can understand the Red Grange argument, but Bronko Nagurski was a bigger FB who also played defense. He would have been a great player regardless of era. Exactly. The stories and legends associated with the guys that played in the young(er) days of the NFL eclipse their stats. They are as worthy of the Hall of Fame as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
