They've got 21st century guys Williams, Long, Starks, Taylor, Thomas, Surtain, Madison, and I'm not counting the returners since you could have picked anyone. Only 7 guys in the last 14 years shows this team is all history. And nobody is on the team now or even recently.

Cameron Wake should be a starter over Vern Den Harden and Betters IMO, he has been absolutely dominate in his career and is one of the most disruptive ends in the game.

Not to be a nitpicker, but it's Jim Kiick.

I would disagree, I have followed his career very closely as I am a CFL fan as well and was dominate up here. There are few pass rushers I have ever watched that I would take over him.

Do you by chance remember Doug Betters 1983-84 seasons when he had 30 sacks in 32 games??

Do you by chance remember Doug Betters 1983-84 seasons when he had 30 sacks in 32 games?? Wasn't alive then Thats impressive no doubt, he put two good years back to back however in 4 years Wake has put up 46 sacks, thats including last year where he was playing through injury problems for the first half of the season, and 2011 in which he was forced to switch from a 3-4 OLB, to a 4-3 DE. He put up 8 sacks in thosw two seasons. And he put up 14 and 15 in the other two. Equally impressive to what Betters did IMO. Its tough for me to compare the two of them as they didn't keep stats all of Betters career so its hard to see what he did before they started keeping sacks as a stat. Same goes for Vern Den Herder. I just know from watching Cam Wake that he deserves to be on this team.

I just know from watching Cam Wake that he deserves to be on this team. It is a shame that defensive stats weren't kept earlier. That we agree on. How many sacks did Betters have from 78-81? We have no idea. He played in 63 games and started 51 during those years. From 82-87 he started 54 games and had 43.5 sacks. That is 4 sacks for every 5 games started. So lets just assume he had the same rate from 78-81. That is an additional 41 sacks that Betters would have had giving him 84.5 career sacks in 146 career games (105 starts). Compare that to Cameron Wake 57.0 sacks in 84 career games (69 starts) Cameron Wake has a slightly better sack per start rate but IMO it isn't enough to make up for Dolphin longevity 146 games to 84.
