Norv Turner must be on the hottest seat in the NFL and if he fails to get the Chargers to a playoff run, he will be dismissed. That being said, I have five guys who I believe would be ideal for the Chargers HC position and they would be:
5)The in-house options (Rich Bisacchia or John Pagano)-If the Chargers decide to stay in house and promote one of our coordinators, I would be comfortable with elevating either Bisacchia because he has been instrumental in turning around a horrid special teams unit and developing young players or Pagano because of his experience with the organization and our entire defensive unit just responds to him.
4)Ken Wisenhunt-If the Cardinals decide to walk away from Ken Wisenhunt, I would be disappointed if the Chargers didn't take a look at the Super Bowl caliber coach. I see Wisenhunt as a tough minded coach and pairing him with Philip Rivers would provide with all of the success he needs to turn his career around.
3)Pete Carmichael Jr.-Recognized as one of the top offensive coordinators in the game, Carmichael would have great potential as a HC, since he has apprenticed under Marty Schottenheimer and Sean Payton.
2)Mike Zimmer-Zimmer has been ready for a HC job for years and in the time he has been in Cincinnati, he has established a reputation for being a guy who commands the respect of his players. The Chargers could use someone like that leading them on game day.
1)Jon Gruden-A guy can dream can't he? Gruden said that he would return if the right opportunity presented itself. I think an opportunity to work with a talented roster and a proven QB in Rivers would be hard to pass up for the Super Bowl winning HC.
