My oldest daughter went to college in England. yes they have good education also. But come on guys this is not even making sense. We have a great education system. And being able to take a class in religion is a must. Even my atheist daughters took classes in that. And they loved it. It helped them learn about the world. If you don't think religions exist or have never existed you are crazy. If you don't want to learn why or what they believe you are an ostrich with your head in the sand. My kids all three of them, and my step son all have degrees and are prospering very well. I can not agree that our education system is bad. Yes there is a lot of students that will never get it. But that is the student, not the system. My kids student loans are very manageable. My oldest paid hers off in one year with her half a million dollar salary a year at her job. And bought a million dollar house the next year. Life is good. Im in the wrong program.... i aint expecting anything near a half mill during my 1st year It's not her first year. It actually took a few years. Shes a project manager for Google. And I'm not sure exactly what she makes, but its close. Shes very smart and very good. She makes lots of money. God Bless America. She travels quite a bit to Europe. And she goes to Brazil sometimes for some reason. She helps them with stuff.

America is "world police" because we're stuck with that role. And yes, somebody has to do it. After WW2, America was the only world power left, and tons of countries needed help getting back on their feet. They came to us for help. We've been in the world police role ever since then. We didn't even volunteer to become world police. It just so happened that way. We're not stuck in that role, and no, no one has to do it. It's about control. America always has their nose stuffed into things they have no business having their noses in. We need to mind our own business and stay out of everyone else's crap. Yes, we are. Yes, somebody has to do it. Think about what would happen if we withdrew from some of the countries we're in. There's a very high probability that other countries would invade, and could potentially make things worse than they already are. And with how war-ridden the middle east is, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that withdrawing is a bad idea. It's not about control, it's about (trying to) maintaining peace. Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and other terrorist groups would be much worse and much more rampant and destructive without the USA (and some other countries) suppressing them. The entire middle east basically wants to kill each other. Things of that nature need to be controlled/eliminated. I don't know how you can even say otherwise. The USA becoming an isolationist country would allow terrorism to spread more than it already does. That could (and most likely would) become our business, so don't say "we should just stay out of it" because that's a bad idea for everybody involved. People left Germany and Hitler alone and let them "mind their own business" for a good while until the world realized what was happening. People leave North Korea alone right now, look how bad that country is. My point with this statement (and you can apply this to my whole post, really) is that most often times outside forces are needed to prevent some really bad situations from potentially occurring.

Who's keeping us in check MO? I bet a lot of countries would consider us terrorists, but if any other country brought a military base here, well, it wouldn't end well.

1) Korea was divided because of the Soviet Union and USA. The korean war didnt happen because of Koreans 2) Did America not fund the Talibans to stop Soviet occupation?

What is going on in Canada I heard a little on the news. A shooting at the capital? There was a gunman (or gunmen) involved in three shootings on Parliament Hill in Ottawa (capitol of Canada). Last I read, they weren't sure if there were multiple gunmen or just one, but they did end up taking down a shooter. All of the offices in the area have been on lockdown for a while, while the RCMP (police) search the area. From what I heard, there were only a few minor injuries to people in the area and I haven't read anything about any deaths. I could be missing information right now though, because the news that is being published has been coming in small burst with a piece of info here and another there.

Because for one, we can protect ourselves. We don't need other countries here to help us remain safe the same way that we provide this for a lot of other countries. The biggest reason though is because there's no real reason for another country to have a base here. What tactical, military advantage does a foreign country having a base here provide? North America is pretty geographically isolated from the rest of the world, and combat doesn't happen in the western hemisphere.. Like ever. When was the last time there was warfare anywhere near North America? Why would anybody consider the USA terrorists? What have we done to have that label? I also want to say this - I've seen you make similar posts like this a lot, and I don't understand why. I'm not saying this to be rude, but it's almost like you would rather the USA not be a world power. Why?

Fair enough point on the Korean war. But I don't think it changes the fact that NK is a pretty messed up country. And SK would arguably not even exist today if it weren't for the aide from the United Nations, the United States, and the United Kingdom. We did. Obviously with the benefit of hindsight, we know that we made a mistake doing that. Nobody thought anything of it at the time though.
