Couple of things.
First off it is a solid overall mock draft.
There is virtually no chance we take a rookie receiver. Dobson is going to get healthy and explode this season. A veteran receiver addition is always possible, but there is very little benefit to picking a rookie receiver who is going to take at least a year to learn the offense anyways.
Josh Shaw is not 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round talent, and then he has some off the field issues that have yet to be resolved on top of that. Very mixed reviews on where he goes according to different guys. I truly have no idea how some people think he is all that good though, and this is coming from someone who has watched every game he has played in. What I see is a solid overall prospect, but nothing special. He is a 4th round talent at CB, maybe 3rd round if you factor in special teams. Although I have a different view on him if you consider him a safety, probably second round talent as a safety.

So, we have a DT named Michael Bennett in this draft. What if he gets taken by Tampa Bay. They'd have two Michael Bennett's on their D-line? And you thought the Steve Smith thing was confusing.

I doubted him but saw that other mocks had him top 10 so I didn't want to drop him too far without watching him on tape yet. I might slide Waeynes up to that spot then. I disagree on the Pats, only because they have too much talent on their team that's wasting away because their offense isn't effective. If they don't improve pass protection during the season, I think they take a lineman first round, but I expect bilicheck to fix the line soon, so they will work on the offense and get a receiver. That's my thought. Aaron Dobson is about to explode you say? Well if that happens I'll change this but I don't forecast my mocks based on things that haven't happened yet. As of now, the Pats don't have a #1 WR or anyone who can be one down the road. So yeah, unless they bring in a vet then they should draft one.

As of now, the Pats don't have a #1 WR or anyone who can be one down the road. So yeah, unless they bring in a vet then they should draft one. Dobson has been working to return from his foot surgery, he is almost back to 100 percent, and hasnt been active in two games this season. Dobson is the future at the receiver position, he had an excellent rookie season last year, doing more than anyone could really expect him too do. Veterans very rarely come in here, and instantly produce( Randy Moss the lone exception). It is even harder for rookies to come in and produce. Gronk and Hernandez put up basically the same numbers Dobson put up last season, when they were rookies. Dobson has been set back by missing a good portion of the offseason, but give it 2-4 more weeks and I think you will see an explosion. Now the offensive line will get better. The problems are mostly mental issues, and finding the right group. Stork is getting healthier and he has gotten more playing time recently. Stork is clearly our best center on the roster, but he missed all of training camp, and most of the preseason. I would give it two more weeks and he should be starting. That moves Connolly over to RG, which he is also best at. It takes Jordon Devey off the field, who is the weak link on the oline. Josh Kline probably replaces Marcus Cannon at LG. Cannon is a solid, starting caliber tackle, but he is clearly playing out of position at guard. Kline played at an elite level last year in the 3 games he started at LG. But once the oline improves, it will really help the receivers out. There have plenty of times the season that receivers were open, but Brady couldnt get them the ball. It is clear that Brady has great trust in LaFell, Edelman, Thompkins, and Gronk. Trust is useless when you dont have time to get the ball though. That all being said our number one need is at the guard position. What we have now is a solid offensive line, that is going to be playing at an above average level by mid season. Connolly is in his mid 30's, and Cannon will be a free agent. A rookie receiver would take over a year to learn the system, while a guard can step in and play week 1.

UPDATED! I've got a new #1 pick and several guys jumping up or falling out of the first round. Read the OP, hit link the Walterfootball and rate/comment there so I can get published on the front page if you'd be so kind I won't be able to get to comments right away because I'm going to some meetings tonight unfortunately. I'll try to get to responding real late tonight or tomorrow morning.

Dont think there is any chance Leonard Williams falls out of the top 5, you already know what I think of both PAC-12 QB's, I like our pick(not so much the 24 placement). Overall its solid.

Would prefer PJ Williams over a guard but I can't argue the choice.
