Not even close lol. AP, CJ's 2009 season, LT, Larry Johnson and Shaun Alexander all got a lot closer to looking like those two, and even they fell way short except MAYBE Tomlinson. Shady's had two great years, but neither were the kind of legacy defining years that all those RBs have had: AP 2012, CJ 09, LT 06, LJ 05, Alexander 05. Those players either blew away records (AP, LT, CJ, SA) dominated even the league's best defenses and carried their teams (SA, LJ), or brought an element of their game that was something never seen before (CJ's home runs, LT receiving ability).
There are great runningbacks like Shady and Charles and Forte, and then there are modern legends like the guys I mentioned, and then there are guys like Sanders, Sayers, Payton, Campbell and Brown. And those 5 are WAY above even the best players of the 2000s except, again, MAYBE Tomlinson, and who knows about AP now, but even so it's not close. Shady has to be dominate for another four or five years to even get to tier two.

Take a real good look at 2003 and 2006 - and okay, 2002, 04, 05 & 07. www.nfl.com/player/ladainiantomlinson/2504778/profile - this is a beyond a sick amount of production over a 7 year period. And respectable production when he was splitting time late in his career with Sproles and then Shonn Greene. Talk about someone they ran into the ground with well over 300 carries per year - in addition to 50 - 100 catches a year. He could possibly have been trusted more than any other player in history to line up anywhere and do absolutely anything. And durable. No words, just no words for my admiration for him - as a player and a person. Going to put on my prized powder blue right now...

McCoy is more like...... McCoy I'd agree with Juggs that the jury is still out on Shady. I think he could possibly get there, but TBH, and as a huge fan of his, I don't see the same as in the GOATs that might set him apart. I'd agree he's a top 3 right now, and versatile at that, but at this stage, don't seem him really breaking out any further.

Regardless of what he's done off the field.

It seems like most of you are saying he's not a hall of famer, lol. You would be correct. If his career ended today, he would not make the HOF. He simply hasn't played long enough. However, he certainly does possess the skills to get there one day though, if he plays long enough.
What I AM saying, is that I haven't seen too many Rb's be able to run like he does, in MY lifetime. I've been following the NFL for 28 years now. I've went to all the home games here in Philly for years too, and have witnessed plenty of Rb's with my own eyes that were very good....Brian Westbrook, Duce Staley, Herschell Walker, Ricky Watters, Keith Byers and Charlie Garner. While a few of them were considered among the best during their prime, they all had different skill sets.
Actually, only a few players come to MY mind, that possessed his particular type set of skills. The cut backs, the jaw dropping jukes, the spin moves.
He moves like a humming bird flies, or like an alien spacecraft, zig-zagging his way around, cutting on a dime while leaving jaws hung open in disbelief, and jock straps all over the field.
I'm not annointing him as the best Rb to play the game ever. There were a LOT of REALLY special players throughout the years. All of them had different skill sets though. The two players I rememember that did what he does consistently, were Barry Sanders & LT. That's all I'm saying, not that he is the greatest of all-time, but that the kid IS a special talent. He's fun and exciting to watch, and I'm glad he's an Eagle.
