It's because the quality of RBs in the league is much higher than the quality of any other position. There's a bunch of teams that have two (or more) really good RBs on their roster. Teams can regularly find starters or major contributors at the RB position in like rounds 4 and 5 in the draft. Again, that doesn't really happen with any other position. So because there is more good RBs we invented a new category? lmao Lol I don't think we were the ones to create the "all around back" phrase.

So you guys would take Bradshaw over Jamaal?? In a line that is better than the Colts, which is almost any other o-line, I'd take Charles.

There's like 15 or 20 (and that might be being generous) good QBs in the league, and the rest are just bad and shouldn't be starting. On the other hand, there's probably about 40+ RBs that are quality and are only backups because somebody better is in front of them.

Ok heres my final answer... And I know people will disagree, cuz thats just what we do. We would have to order 60 different pizzas in order to satisfy everybody here if we were having a pizza party. Best Rb of all time - Barry Sanders Best all around back of all time - Walter Payton Best RB currrently - Adrian Peterson Best all around back currently - Shady McCoy, J Charles (TIE) HOW CAN YOU HAVE TWO BEST RBs!?!?! There is NEVER this discussion with any other position. Nobody is sitting here like "Calvin Johnson is the best WR, but Donnie Avery can block and run routes better, so he is the better all around WR." Obviously what I said isn't true, but you get the idea! Well...You cant really...but IMO...its a tie,cuz I cant make my mind up whos better all around. They are very very close.

No, I wasn't talking about the Charles/Shady tie. Talking about how Walter Payton was best all around, and Barry Sanders was just best. Doesn't that mean Sanders is the best all around? lol

Well good question.Barry Sanders to me is the best ever, hands down. They didnt expect him to block, but he did everything else so well...they were very satisfied. Walter Payton was a great back all around. I still dont think he was better than Sanders.
