Alejandro Villanueva 6'9" 277pounds (likely put on 30 pounds) former Army receiver and OT, who moved to defensive end for the Eagles this preseason. West Point graduate, Ex-U.S. Army Ranger who is coming off three tours of duty in Afghanistan, who also earned a bronze star. Who will be promoted to a captain on May 1st, and would have had a 4th tour of duty if he had not made the roster or if he doesn't stick. Had over 500 yards in 2009 in a run first offense. I doubt the OT label is written in stone just yet, I could easily see him being used as a utility man as a 6th lineman/TE like they did with Beachum and Adams early last season. I'm pumped that the Steelers are giving this certified bad ass an opportunity. EagleDomiKnation @eddiej2010 What else do we need to know about this guy? Villanueva isn't very good...his technique is very high school...needs lots of coaching. Don't expect him to play.

I was expecting that, the guy probably never played high school ball but showed enough ability to start for Army. No doubt he's incredibly raw and will likely have to ride the practice squad for a few years, they're essentially getting what a NCAAF team gets from a high school player in terms of technique and knowing where he fits best. Like I said he likely won't ever be a starter. But I wouldn't be too upset if he could be a back up OT or blocking TE. I wonder what the Eagles saw in him to think he could play DE? I'm not sure he even played on the defensive side at Army.

I'm not sure he even played on the defensive side at Army. I find hilarious the amount of people on BTSC that think we should sign Terrell Pryor. Pryor said no to Tomlin if he wanted to play for his home town team because he didn't think he could handle the pressure. That says all I need to hear. He's simply not a good passer and his best chance to succeeding is learning WR/Flex TE, and I'm not sure if he has even ever played those positions before. I'd rather have a Rex Grossman, Colt McCoy, (insert anyone with some experience/potential). But I expect them to simply draft another mid-late round QB in the future, and have the two compete in camp. They're not going to find a future franchise QB in waiting, so why take the #3 QB spot so serious? I'd just like for the 3rd QB not to suck completely in preseason, but in a game situation they're going to lose regardless if it comes down to the 3rd man.

$6.5M a year.. In total it's a 5yr/27.431M contract if you include this season.
