Because of the whole Franchise Tag deal. Jimmy Graham cannot control that so he wanted to be listed as a WR so he would get more money. Also, Graham's argument was kinda flimsy when you think about it. Charlie Casserly was on ESPN just now and he put it in a very good way. So Jimmy Graham said he was a WR because he played 67% (or whatever it was) of his snaps in the slot? Well that means he is playing 33% next to the tackle and how many WRs do you see even spend one snap a game right next to the tackle? None. Graham is a TE. Simple as that. What I am saying is, I don't understand why it matters what he is tagged, and why he put up such a fight to not be tagged as a TE since he might get WR money anyways. Cuz he is selfish?

If I'm getting this right, it seems to me like what you are tagged as doesn't matter at all since he could still get the money he desires while being tagged as a TE. So that he'd get the most money this year -if- he doesn't get his long term deal. There are no guarentees he gets his deal done, and 5 million is a lot of money to lose if he has to play this year on the tag.

I guess so Albeit, I don't completely blame him since he definitely did outplay his contract. Putting up numbers like he has while making only around 1 million a year isn't right.

I bet if he was tagged as a WR he would have kept rejecting deals on purpose to get the WR tag money. Graham, you bastard.

Most likely Jimmy Graham will get paid as a receiver when he does agree to a long term deal. If New Orleans wont pay him that kind of money, some other team will.

I doubt Graham wins his appeal. Hopefully they'll get a long term done before tomorrows deadline

I just read that they are closing in on extending Graham to make him the highest paid TE of all time.
