Even though I'm betting against my country, sure. Wow. That's harsh. I feel decently optimistic that Italy escapes their group. Hopefully Uruguay sucks like they have lately. England sucks. Idk anything about Costa Rica I'm happy to be wrong on this one! I hope you see why I was skeptical though.. In our group, we had Ghana who KOed us in the two previous cups, and then two powerhouses in Germany and Portugal.

Man USA looked terrible in that game. If Ghana hadn't spent every second trying to launch balls in, they would have won. All USA did all game was one quick counter attack, they won a corner kick and they defended cross. USA did nothing to control the ball or set up chances. They play like that against Germany and even Portugal and they will get manhandled. What poor game by both teams.

I watched. I kind of got the same feeling as Saska. It didn't look like there was much "Attack" in either teams effort. The end was fun. Why did it go an extra five minutes?

They determine the extra time/stoppage time by the amount of time taken up by injuries/substitutions/etc. because the clock doesn't stop when those things happen. For example, in the first half of that game, Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey (along with a good amount of other players) got injured and were laying on the ground in pain for quite some time. Instead of stopping the clock for an injury, they count how much time is taken up by it. So if the players are down on the ground for a total of two minutes, then that will translate to two minutes of extra time.

But I'm optimistic we may have a better gameplan for Portugal.

Why don't you just stop the clock?

USA lost one of their best players in Altidore, and a lot of their guys were not playing well under the humid conditions. Yet they still won a game that they were expected to lose.
Football will always be my favorite sport, but nothing gets my emotion as much as a World Cup game.
