MarchingOn Morkim EagleDomiKnationIt makes sense that Canadians would be more annoyed by American bias than anywhere else because our televisions are flooded with American media. The argument that Americans would dominate soccer if their best athletes all played soccer still doesn't hold us to me though... Unless those athletes grew up with a ball at their feet from the time when they could walk. That's the difference between our countries and the really talented countries. Americans play boring soccer... So do Canadians, because we aren't creative with the ball. South Americans have the confidence to try the most ridiculous moves you've seen because the ball at their feet is as natural as walking. It's like Canadians with hockey sticks. You can't teach soccer to be a second nature, that comes with complete immersion in the sport and neither us nor you guys will ever have that with soccer (unless we become this world countries that can't afford to play anything else). You can think that your athletes are the greatest athletes in the world, and they are when it comes to football and basketball, but other sports require different skill sets. Brazilian soccer players and Kenyan marathon runners and Jamaican sprinters are all incredible athletes in their own way, for their own sport, and they are not lesser beings to your football and basketball stars. It is arrogant to think that your athletes are better than everyone else when it's like saying that my car is better than your boat. One would be much better on land while the other would dominate in water. I agree with this post 100%, and I don't think I've said anything that goes against this post. I've never said that the USA could be one of the best in the world at the sport, I don't think morkim has either. Eagledomiknation seems to be the only one saying that, and I do disagree with him. I just think we could be better. I think if we put more into the sport, we could consistently put out teams like Belgium has now. Belgium isn't good enough to be recognized as a soccer powerhouse, but they're certainly good enough to where they have gained national respect from the world as a team that you can't take lightly. I think we could potentially get to that level. Honestly the USA has a similar play style to Belgium, it's just that Belgium has the better athletes on their squad. We don't have anybody as talented as Eden Hazard, Fellaini, Lukaku, or Vincent Kompany. (there are some other players I could list too) Becoming as good as Belgium certainly would not happen overnight, but I think it's a realistic ceiling for 20+ years down the line if soccer's popularity keeps progressing in America and more kids start playing it.

During this world cup, I've developed a hate for Neymar. Dirty player, and his dives are so frequent and obvious. Then he stays down on the ground for 15-30 seconds like he's seriously hurt.
But damn, he is a great player.

This game is brutal. Both teams are diving like crazy and the ref is letting it get out of hand. There should be at least 5 yellow cards handed out, yet the ref just gave out the first card after 60 minutes. Brutal game...

But damn, he is a great player. That's not always true. Against Cameroon players were really aggressive on him. On today's game, that last foul involving him was serious. He had a back injury and will miss the rest of the cup. That pansy ref should have redcarded that player, who charged his knee on his back.

Yeah, it turns out this time he actually was injured, which really is a shame. He's one of the best players in the world, and I wouldn't wish injury on anyone (especially in the world cup). But honestly, he does dive a lot so it's hard to tell the difference between when he's really hurt and when he's not. I remember in the round of 16 against Chile, a defender challenged Neymar for the ball, and Neymar fell on the ground holding his leg in pain for about a minute and a half. When he realized the referees weren't falling for it, he stood right back up and ran the full size of the pitch at full speed to get back into the action. I don't think if his leg was hurt he could have done that.. There are also full montages of Neymar dives on youtube, which to me indicates he does this at more than just the world cup..

I 100% though Neymar was diving on this one.. I love watching him play his skill is through the roof but the guy needs to stop with the diving. This is one of the biggest problems with diving too is that you watch a guy dive 20 times in a game and then when you are like "Fucking baby get up and quit crying!" the guy could actually be hurt.. I honestly thought it looked painful when it happened but I really didn't think the rolling around was necessary , and I just assumed he was killing time like the rest of his team was.. Sad to see him injured as I would have liked to have seen Germany play Brazil at their full strength. With Neymar out it really hurts Brazil's team
