You do realize that Canada is in the same boat as what you guys are talking about right now. Theoretically all of our best athletes are hockey players, if all of them and our money focused on another sport instead of hockey we would likely be as good at that sport as we are at hockey. The deal is that we don't go saying "If we did we would be better than you" its just arrogant. Every other country in the world with the money and population are in the same boat but you don't hear fans from other countries saying it. Okay. And while that's theoretically true, We both know Canada sucks. And you guys have one sport. You don't really have the population for more than that. The US has, what? Two plus the NFL? Not to mention we are pretty decent at Hockey/Soccer. Atleast the CFL is entertaining guys. This is the truth hurting you inside. It's ok. It's just jealousy, you'll get over it. More Truth. I'm sorry this hurts you Jindred. I hope you can move past it. :/ Everyone everywhere in every sport will blame refs in a close loss to varying degrees. I've never heard the partying excuse, lol. And the last bit is obviously true bc we are Americans, duh. In all seriousness. I think you're over generalizing Americans. It's not our fault everyone is incredibly jealous. And it's not like Canada won @ hockey gracefully, why should we take a loss with grace?

I understand that... I'm not dense. If America put more into soccer they would get more out of it. What I was annoyed at is the attitude of "look how good we are, despite the fact that we don't care about soccer." Maybe that isn't what Eagle was trying to say, but that's how I took it and it's the same way people talked about hockey during the Olympics. It's annoying to the rest of the world when Americans look down on everyone else like " you know, if we actually cared about your stupid game, we would embarrass you at it." It's an arrogant attitude that many Americans have regarding any sport that they don't dominate the world in. Is it the truth that is so annoying? that is exactly what it seems to be. No denying that if Americas best athletes played soccer instead of the other big four sports we'd rule the pitch. Its the truth and theirs no getting around it. Im not trying to be arrogant, I don't see why Its being taken as arrogant. But....haters gonna hate I guess.

The deal is that we don't go saying "If we did we would be better than you" its just arrogant. Every other country in the world with the money and population are in the same boat but you don't hear fans from other countries saying it. American fans have three tendencies. One if they are the best at a sport they act like "WE ARE THE BEST EVER AND EVERYONE ELSE SUCKS WOOOO U.S.A, U.S.A!" Two if they aren't the best at the sport and they win you get "WOOO! We aren't even into this sport and we still own you, how embarassing is that that we put in half the effort and we are still better U.S.A, U.S.A!" Three they lose at any sport. "Er ma gerd! The ref is against us, our players were tired from partying last night, we don't put as much money into this sport, but if we put the money and players into this sport we would be the best ever at it and nobody would ever beat us just like football and basketball, man are we awesome at those!" It gets tiresome listening to that every time we face Americans on a world stage. It would be nice to see some class and humility out of American fans but I don't expect that to ever happen. Yes, we realize every country is in that boat. I actually mentioned that in one of my previous posts. And I can almost guarantee you that not just Canada, but every country says those things. I think it's pretty ignorant to believe only Americans say things like that, such as you and saska seem to be implying. I'm sure that no Canadian ever says things like "WE ARE THE BEST EVER AND EVERYONE ELSE SUCKS WOOOO" and "Er ma gerd! The ref is against us" when it comes to hockey.... Give me a break, Jin. We both know how bad hockey fans can get. But I wanted to talk about the second tendency you listed a little bit.. Yes, it's true that Canada doesn't put same effort into other sports as they do hockey, but since Canada has a small population, that really limits how good they can be at more than one sport. Because of population, the way I see it is Canada can choose to be dominant at one sport and less than stellar at others, or they could spread out their talent more equally and be good (but not great) at multiple sports. It's obvious which they chose. (hockey above all) But honestly, and this isn't me putting America on a pedestal, but it's different here. We have the population necessary to be dominant at multiple sports. So we have a wide majority of sports to choose from, and given the effort, we could become really, really good at almost any of them. And it's obvious the sports that we chose to be good at. But should ever America have a change of heart, we could become really good at a different sport (like soccer). Of course, that would result in getting worse in other sports around the country, but we have the opportunity to play and be good in almost any sport that we want to, which is something not a lot of countries can say. That's not a "go America" thing, that's a population thing. Any country with a big population can say that about themselves if they care about sports. If what you say is true about Canadian fans not ever saying things like "if we put more effort into the sport we'd beat you", it's because they know that the population holds them back. But America and Canada's situations aren't the same when it comes to sports.

But America and Canada's situations aren't the same when it comes to sports. I do realize how bad Canadians get with hockey.. It embarrasses me when they do, because I don't like being part of a fan base that lacks class and humility. If your best Athletes played soccer then they wouldn't be in football, baseball, basketball and hockey, and you would become less dominate in those, so why even say it? Either way one of your sports will drop down a level and one will go up. You are held back by the same restrictions as Canada, the difference is that your restrictions are held to 4 or so sports instead of our 1, because you have 10 times the population. Either way its relative to where you are but its the same deal. We could be great at soccer or hockey.. You can be great at football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey... Or switch one out for soccer. So what's the point in saying what it? Am I disagreeing that your team would be better if your best athletes played? No, I just don't get why it has to be said and why its always "Yea we are potentially better at you than everything ever." Its like an older brother who can't handle that his younger brother might possibly be better at him than something, so he has to say "If I tried at that I would be better than you" and then goes off to show how much better he is at them than something else. What this boils down to is you will never see how bad American fans look to the rest of the world, because you are part of the fan base and turn a blind eye. I am sure I am jaded to how obnoxious our Canadian fans are when it comes to hockey as well, but I can very confidently say we are no where near the level of arrogance that the American fans show in everything. This isn't all American fans, this isn't saying that other countries aren't bad for it either, its just that America tends to top the list, and being Canadian being the "little brother" we always hear about it and it gets old. All I am saying is it would be nice to see a little more class from American fans instead of every time they lose them going "Oh well its not our fault we lost, and oh we don't care anyway's cause we dominate every other sports." Sadly that won't happen and we will keep hearing about every success your country has and have it shoved in our faces that we aren't as good and always have to hear "Ha Canada sucks!" and so on and so forth. I am not gonna keep talking about this because its just going to turn into the same responses every time from here on out.

It's hard to lose or win gracefully when you're the US. Everything I've seen since the US lost was how much the US sucks at soccer. (Unless it's the Americans saying what you say we say, ofcourse) so if you're constantly having shit talked to you, fans generally don't respond with class. It's not cool, I can see why you wouldn't care for it, but it is what it is. And I'm going to say a vocal minority doesn't make them the majority, and the Internet makes people say things they'd never say otherwise. It'd be nice if all sports fans could learn to have a little more class. But that's just not how the world works Jundred. if it makes you feel better, American fans are equally as obnoxious about our own sports as we are global. Look at our NFL. Edit: lol Canada sux.

That then comes down to the chicken or the egg argument, which came first, the lack of class on Americas side or the lack of class on other fans side.. You do bring a good point up though about how America fans are treated now. Sadly both sides deserve what they get at this point. And yea not just Americans in there own sports but Canadians as well. I should know better than to generalize but I have an impressive bias towards Merica Roughrider fans can get a bad rap cause we have some fans who are giant assholes and ruin it for everyone. I know its the same with America I just tend to get a bit pissy do to some bad blood between our countries largely due to Canada often being the but of the joke.

I even said that in my own post lol. I'm not the one who started this debate, but I'm debating because frankly, I don't give a damn about baseball and I'd much rather see our country focus on soccer than baseball. But I will agree with you that some Americans probably don't understand that one sport would suffer if another grew. I really hope you read this part Jindred, because I think maybe you might not be understanding something when you say America tops the list in obnoxiousness when it comes to sports. You say that America tends to top the list in that category, I assume because you hear us talk more than other countries. But i think there's a reason for that. Since America is good at four sports (your words), we talk about all four sports as opposed to most countries one. So there's a bigger quantity, as you have to hear us talk about all four. If America was good at only one sport, I think it's logical to say you wouldn't think us any more obnoxious than any other country. If Canada was a beast at more than just hockey, we would have to listen to Canadians not only talk trash about how good they are at hockey, but also we'd have to listen to them talk trash in their other sport. TL; DR version: We only seem more obnoxious because you have to hear us talk trash in four sports, but if we were only good at one sport we wouldn't be able to talk as much as we do, just like any other country.

MarchingOn Morkim EagleDomiKnationIt makes sense that Canadians would be more annoyed by American bias than anywhere else because our televisions are flooded with American media. The argument that Americans would dominate soccer if their best athletes all played soccer still doesn't hold us to me though... Unless those athletes grew up with a ball at their feet from the time when they could walk. That's the difference between our countries and the really talented countries. Americans play boring soccer... So do Canadians, because we aren't creative with the ball. South Americans have the confidence to try the most ridiculous moves you've seen because the ball at their feet is as natural as walking. It's like Canadians with hockey sticks. You can't teach soccer to be a second nature, that comes with complete immersion in the sport and neither us nor you guys will ever have that with soccer (unless we become this world countries that can't afford to play anything else). You can think that your athletes are the greatest athletes in the world, and they are when it comes to football and basketball, but other sports require different skill sets. Brazilian soccer players and Kenyan marathon runners and Jamaican sprinters are all incredible athletes in their own way, for their own sport, and they are not lesser beings to your football and basketball stars. It is arrogant to think that your athletes are better than everyone else when it's like saying that my car is better than your boat. One would be much better on land while the other would dominate in water.
