I typed this up in my post and the liberal community skipped over it and replied to what suited them best. This is why I continuously bash liberals. They are so aggressive regarding racism, ecological issues, and religion but don't nearly care about anything else. They are so short-sighted, highly-judgmental, and annoying. Are you like, just targeting a couple people on this board with this? Because most of the coverage I see is African Americans speaking their mind. IDK though, I watched the Voice so maybe I'm not caught up on the white liberal agenda. Yahoo, MSNBC

This is what really bothers me. I'm cool with the guy being shunned and fined etc. Because the NBA wants the country to know they don't want to associate with that kind of person. But why are more people not talking about how NOT OK it is that this all became public in the first place? People have a right to dislike the guy for what he said, yes. Ive never even hears of the guy and I strongly dislike him from what I heard on the tape, but this was a PRIVATE CONVERSATION in HIS HOME. If he went out and said that crap on the court, sure, by all means, ban him, fine him. But he didn't. This was a private conversation in his home. The NBA has no right to punish him for what he said. And really no one is talking about how this was an illegal recording. As plax said a couple posts ago, this isn't on the NBA. They dealt the punishment that was appropriate to what happened. They went entirely by the NBA code of conduct, so the NBA did nothing wrong here. They are sending a message that they don't approve of, or associate with that sort of behavior. Does that make the whole taping him in his home thing right? Hell no, and I'm sure he'll sue the hell out of some people. But that doesn't make what the NBA did with what they had to work with, wrong.

I mean, I do understand the NBA not wanting to associate with him. But he was just saying this in a private conversation in his home, so I don't think they have a right to fine him $2.5M and force him to sell the organization he bought with his own money because of something he said in private to his girlfriend.

Umm is that even legal? He was in his home, I believe, and he was being recorded? And he's getting fined $2.5M for something he said in a private conversation with his girlfriend? It's not like he went out in public and started insulting black people. He was having a private conversation in his home and was being recorded without his knowledge. And because of what he said in this private conversation that he said to no one other than his girlfriend, he's being fined $2.5M, being forced to sell the organization, ya know, the organization he bought, and banned. Do I agree with what he said? No, of course not. I hate that racism is still a problem. And I second what MO said about growing up in that time doesn't give you a free pass to be racist. It most certainly does not. But the fact is, this was a private conversation, a conversation he had in his home, with one other person, and he was recorded without his knowledge, and he's getting the punishment he's getting. And the fact that everyone thinks that this is all okay and great really bothers me. Sterling knew what the consequences were when he became an owner. I read this today: Several league officials – including owners and Board of Governors members – told Yahoo Sports they believe Silver has been studying the nuclear option on Sterling: a provision in the NBA’s bylaws that would allow Silver to summon a vote of league owners to strip Sterling of his ownership. The NBA would run the Clippers until the team could be sold. The punishment given to Sterling was completely just. And to be honest, nobody cares Sterling was being recorded because it brought to light a much bigger issue.

They don't technically have the ability to force him to sell anyway. They can make him very uncomfortable financially, and encourage him through pressure to sell. But I doubt we see him out of ownership this year.

They have a right to because it's under their code of law and capabilities that he agreed to when he became owner of the team.
Is it right though? Debatable.

That's what I said when you replied to my first post. You pulled an even worse version of Saska, instead of picking a choosing quotes, you completely changed my words to your liking and whatnot. I wasn't even going to reply to that. No I didn't. And you don't even know who the liberals on this board are, yet you say the "liberal community skipped over it and replied to what suited them" acting like you know what everybody's political views are. Gtfo here with that.

It's not a bigger issue! Racism is not a big issue any more.
Not false generalizations.
