The Kings came back from three to zero. Fourth time in history. I only root for the Kings cuz my neighbor does. I'm available to latch on to another team. Now the Kings play the Ducks. Both So Cal teams. Don't know what to do. As long as So Cal wins I'll be happy. Cheer for the Ducks! Ryan Getzlaf the Captain of their team is from my home town. In fact my oldest brother played baseball with him and his brother (who is a receiver for the RoughRiders) when they were kids. That aside I like both of those teams due to the players they have. You could cheer for the Ducks because Teemu Selanne is the oldest player in the NHL at 43. He is still playing at a high enough level to stick around on one of the better teams in the league so its hard not to route for him. The Kings have lots of great players to cheer for, their Goalie is the same Goalie who played for team America in the Olympics. All in all you can't go wrong for who you cheer for out of those two.. (Go Getzlaf!)

Kings and Ducks just started and I think someone is going to get hurt. They are very physical.

Man this is a physical game for sure. And I did see some plays actually form. Then the puck went into a Kings uniform. haha. No one knew where it was. They had to have a face off.

WOW the Kings tie it up with seven seconds left. Overtime. I like this. It's not sudden death is it? Do they play for a period of time?

But in the playoffs it is sudden death, and they just keep playing 20 minute periods until someone scores. Some games have gone into triple OT that I can remember. That is literally like playing two games in a row. In the regular season they play one 5-minute 4 on 4 period of sudden death, then have a shootout to determine the winner.

craig440 There are plays in hockey as you have seen. Its vastly different from football because everything is always happening on the fly but there are defensive formations and offensive formations when teams get into those respective zones, as well as you attempt to use set passing plays to move the puck around in a certain way, trying to move players out of position similar to basketball. The problem with plays in hockey is the break down a lot faster.. Everything in hockey is faster because its on skates, and those guys absolutely fly. Unlike football which is a relatively slow and methodical game. A lot more of hockey is improvised but they do try to set things up. There are also a few styles of play offensively that I know of. On is called the "Dump and Chase" this Invovles getting the puck into the neutral zone in the ice (between the blue lines) and dumping the puck into the other teams end. The goal is to catch the other team skating backwards while you are going forwards and to beat them to the puck while you team mates post up in front of the net. Others involve just carrying the puck into the offensive zone and trying to get a quick shot on net in hopes of a rebound. Others involve cycling the puck around the boards.. All plays in hockey have the same basic idea of trying to pull a defensemen out of position to give the offensive players a clear shot on net. Its definitely a less cerebral game than football, but it still has its X's and O's.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm starting to really like this. The game is kind of slowing down for me and I can see some organization. I'm starting to like the Ducks. But Quick is really good. The ducks look a little better even though they are losing right now.
I still don't understand some of the penalties. What is "Slashing"? I would assume some illegal thing with your stick. But what?
