Cavaliers roster put on notice with firing of Head Coach Mike Brown
After a brutal 31 point loss to the New York Knicks two nights ago, Mike Brown has been terminated of his contract. Mike Brown has been heavily criticized for his lack of offensive approach to the game. The former Lakers and Cavs coach was a big believer in defense; however, he did not do too great of a job this year with that as the Cavaliers were average at best in the defensive department. Additionally, Brown was heavily criticized for the lack of playing time given to #1 overall selection Anthony Bennett and the almost nonexistent playing time given to #19 overall selection Sergey Karasev and #33 overall selection Carrick Felix.
The Cavaliers have announced that Bernie Bickerstaff, the assistant coach to Brown this season, will take over coaching duties for the remainder of the season. The Cavaliers move on from Brown after going a measly 5-7 after the acquisition of All-Star forward Luol Deng. The Cavaliers take on the Houston Rockets tonight.

Cavaliers play hard; but go into bad habits in 2nd half as they fall to Houston 115-96
Irving - 28 points, 5 assists Thompson - 12 points, 12 rebounds Varejaeo - 10 points, 13 rebounds
Harden - 22 points, 7 assists Howard - 19 points, 15 rebounds T. Jones - 18 points, 17 rebounds
The Cleveland Cavaliers played a good 1st half against a powerhouse in the Western Conference. They were up four until James Harden hit a buzzer beating three to send the Rockets into halftime down 1 point. Houston was shooting 47% in the first half, but from the Harden three onwards, Houston dominated Cleveland, shooting 66% from the field in the second half. The Cavaliers fall to 16-31 and will take on the Dallas Mavericks in their next game.

Cavaliers off to bad start with new coach Bickerstaff as they fall to 0-2
Irving - 33 points, 6 assists Deng - 19 points Waiters - 10 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds
Ellis - 30 points, 5 assists, 8 rebounds Harris - 19 points, 7 assists Nowitzki - 16 points, 8 rebounds
The Cavaliers were never able to get a good hold of the game, trailing almost the entire game. There were times when they were closing the gap, but the high-powered Dallas offense continued to pour it on. The Cavaliers ended up losing by 15 points in a 124-109 affair. The defensive woes continue to be a problem for Cleveland, and it will be interesting to see if they plan to make a move to bring in some more defensive presence.
Following the game, it was discovered that Tristan Thompson has suffered a sprained finger, and will be sidelined for a week or two. Anthony Bennett is expected to be slotted into the starting lineup during that period.

February 3rd, 2014 New around the league The Indiana Pacers made a few decisions a few days ago. They have signed Forward Danny Granger to a 4 year extension worth 26.33million dollars. Additionally, (and I find this cool) they have signed Center Andrew Bynum (for those wondering, I started this last night and Bynum was actually signed by Indiana today) to a 1 year deal worth a little over 3 million. The Phoenix Suns, who are exceeding expectations this year, have given a contract extension to Center Emeka Okafor that is worth 13.55 million dollars over 3 years. Lastly, Ben Gordon of the Charlotte Bobcats has received a contract extension worth 18.19 million over 4 years.
