Preliminary reports have indicated that Mike Munchak has joined the Steelers to be their OL coach after the team fired Jack Bicknell Jr. earlier this offseason.
I LOVE this move. Munchak could turn this young, promising OL into the best in the NFL. I cant wait!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now we have to hope this isn't just a pit stop for him for a year before getting a better position.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now we have to hope this isn't just a pit stop for him for a year before getting a better position. In all honesty, it most likely is...when you get fired for refusing to make that many changes on your own staff, that says something about you and people around the NFL hold a high value on Munchak's ability to be a Head Coach. He is most likely going to be on many teams' radars who end up having to fire their Head Coach after the next few seasons. We can only hope he gets attached to our guys and sees their potential as an OL.

I love this hire even if it's only for a year or two, that gives our players valuable coaching and we can use his OL evaluation knowledge to acquire depth and maybe grab a few starters. Plus seeing as Serrett took over for the OL at the mid point of the season (when it started improving) this gives him another year or two to learn from a HoFer then take over if he leaves.
There is also no guarantee that he is any rush to leave, Tom Cable was a HC with potential but he has been coaching the OL in Seattle for a couple years now. Not to mention that Munch has typically stuck with the Oilers/Titans for 19 years.

It also begs the question, does the need of a LT go down or rise? No doubt he could coach up the guys we have now, but if he really likes a player would it be a good idea to take a lineman early?

Head Coach to OL Coach? SMH He made the jump from Titans O-line coach to Titans HC, so it makes sense. You won't find a better line coach.

Not while he was OL coach. And with drafting Whatmack this past year I think they are about to be really good as a line. Need a QB though.
