With the 170th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Cassius Marsh, DE, UCLA Marsh has generated some interest as of late. Lions need another DE or two.

With the 171st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select Ben Gardner, DE/DT, Stanford Gardner is the biggest reason why Trent Murphy put up the numbers he did. Ben was constantly double teamed, sometimes tripled because his physical strength and motor just pushes back everyone I watch who tries to block him 1 on 1. Gardner also has a great work ethic and his teammates like him. He's a natural 3-4 defensive end, but he won't have a shot to start in the Titans hybrid package yet since Karl Klug and Lavar Edwards will be getting most of the rotational work, and the job if Tuck or Casey got hurt *knocks on wood*. In 2015 he could be rotating or starting in our 3-4 package, and he has the speed to stand up if say, Mike Martin or Karl Klug had a breakout year. I'm amending that actually. The Titan will rotate Garnder at 3-4 LDE behind Casey, which will allow Karl Klug to focus entirely on his 4-3 DT play. The last time he was only playing 4-3 DT, he put up seven sacks in six games his rookie year. coltsrockjcr is otc

With the 172nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Khairi Fortt OLB California ============= STRENGTHS: Lean, muscular frame with long arms. Demonstrates early recognition against the run, and an explosive first step downhill. Gets up to speed rapidly and has top-end speed to run down plays to the opposite side, when scraping. Extremely fluid and explosive when moving laterally, as he's able to keep his hips squared to the line of scrimmage and still cut off runs to the outside edge. Shows good gap discipline and patience to allow the play to develop before committing. Approaches blockers with aggression, demonstrating good extension and strong pop to jar his opponent and remain disengaged. Maintains an eye on the backfield while meandering through contact and takes good angles in the box to cut off running lanes. Demonstrates nimble feet to maintain footing when combatting cut-blocks. Exhibits fluid backpedal when asked to drop into coverage, and has the quick hips to turn and run with receivers and tight ends vertically. Tracks the ball well over his shoulder and shows good timing to attack the throw at the high point. Elite acceleration and second gear to chase down speedy ballcarriers, even 20-30 yards down the field. Does a good job of getting low, establishing width and wrapping up his target in the hole. Flashes some pass-rush ability from a three-point stance coming off the edge with an explosive jump and flexibility to round the corner. WEAKNESSES: Approaches blockers high at times and lacks the lower-half strength to correct, reset and hold ground. Lowers his head as a tackler in the hole and will whiff at times when he does so. Takes aggressive angles to the outside, and will find himself behind the play occasionally as a result. Tends to freeze at times when dropping into zone, as he'll lock onto the quarterback and seemingly lose awareness of what's going on around him. Will throw himself at ballcarries when in space and pursuing from off angles, seeming more concerned with the big hit than finishing the play. Despite his aggression and ability to play through contact, was not a big finisher behind the line of scrimmage while at Cal. In my opinion, Fortt is a really under-the-radar player who could contribute immediately, and be a productive starter after a couple years refining his game and becoming a more disciplined player. Also fills a big need because the Bucs need an OLB to play opposite Lavonte David. FA acquisitions Moise Fokou and Darryl Sharpton will be able to hold it down decently for now, but Fortt has the potential to lock down that spot sooner rather than later 101mitch

With the 174th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Logan Thomas, QB, Virginia Tech ======== Low risk, Huge reward. With McCown unlikely to be resigned, the Bears need a new backup QB. Thomas has limitless talent. Newton-like sturdiness and fantastic arm, he just needs to sharpen up his mechanics and polish his touch on some of his deep balls. Marc Trestman is just the man to do it. He is the QB guru, and if theres anyone to help Thomas, its Trestman.

With the 175th pick of the NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Terrance Mitchell, CB, Oregon.A tall lanky player who has the athleticism the Steelers look for in their CBs, he will likely be sat behind some of the other DBs in the nickel and dime packages and allowed to develop his technique. Fluid hips and decent acceleration and speed, has a knack for going for the big play which can be a double edged sword. He faired well even though the opposing QB was mostly throwing to his side with Ifo Ekpre-Olomu on the opposite side. Will need to clean up his back pedal and develop more of a physical mentality when tackling and playing against the run.

With the 176th pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the New York Jets select Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida ================================================================== Pretty stoked about this pick. Lynch originally signed with Notre Dame as one of the top high school players in the country. And he was the best player on a good ND defense as a freshman. He looked liked he was very well on his way to becoming a first round draft choice. But then he decided to transfer to South Florida, and he completely fell off the map. But that doesn't change the fact that Lynch is IMMENSELY talented, and he has a bright future if he works at it. This gives more depth behind Wilkerson and Richardson. If Lynch pans out like he's capable of, the Jets might very well have the best DL in the whole league in a couple years.
