One day a year ago,Newtown lost 20 students and 6 teachers in an elementary school shooting.Yesterday,Arapahoe high school had a school shooting.Thankfully for Denver, only one student was injured (she is in critical condition, the latest reports say the 2nd person injured actually had blood splattered from the 15 year old girl who was injured from the gun shot).
I know this is only 2 examples of school shootings, but weren't we suppose to be the land of freedom that people could come here for better opportunity?Where we would have a great amount of protection to keep ourselves and our kids safe from tragedies like this?I know we are not a perfect country, but perfection isn't needed to keep people from getting shot.
It's things like this where that 3rd and 5 that your team needs to stay alive in the game doesn't really matter when parents are dealing with the loss of their kids.
Take a minute to think about all the victims today, and if you're a parent, hug your kids a little longer for the next couple days than normal, and truly tell them how much you love them.

Lacy recently went through a similar tragedy........... These POSs give responsable gun owners a bad name....... it has nothing to do with gun owning brother. some kids just have really bad parents. Some parents never teach their children right from wrong. truth from fiction. morals, forgiveness, sense of worth, respect. These are the things that make good people...our job is easy.. we change the world by not being like them. Im done blaming the government and our countries policies for the plain truth that alot of parents in our country just suck.

In defense of dirtybird, he said "they give gun owners a bad name."
He's absolutely right, and you kind of jumped to conclusions.

I can easily agree that parenting has some of the blame for these shootings, but it is far more than just that. Remember, for a second, that parents are not the only place where messages are constructed for our citizens. Very little of our media preaches the non-violence of something like "Doctor Who". Instead, we are a nation that loves seeing violence in our media. Look at "Call of Duty", "Breaking Bad", etc. and we see that the primary motivation for some of our biggest fandoms is that they inherently are violent. This sends messages that guns are "cool to use" and "violence does solve problems". This is a foundation for increased gun violence and I believe it is fair to blame these messages alongside policy. Let us look at the countries with the lowest gun violence (not counting civil war): they have stringent gun laws and guess what? The criminals don't have guns anyhow.

I did a thesis paper on Gun Control for my English class and I had to look up just about everything there is on it. One thing that stood out the most with these shootings is that government policies need to be fixed in order to get this stuff under control. There needs to be a Federal Gun Control law. Now this law doesn't mean that there needs to be a severe restriction on gun ownership (aside from completely getting rid of automatic rifles and shotguns that are completely unnecessary no matter how you look at it), but in the way guns are acquired and kept. The biggest thing that needs to be done is to have a EXTREMELY thorough psychological background. The vast majority of these shooters either had past psychological issues or had shown significant signs of psychological problems. Putting guns in the hands of people like this is just asking for trouble.

Parents that pay attention to whats going on in their kids lives teach them reality from play.

And the parents arent psychotic they are lazy. So they would pass a test and still be able to purchase a weapon for their crazy kid to use to shoot the innocent. Im all for assault rifle bans just as soon as they take them away from the criminals.

It's ALL up to the individual (being legally insane is a different story, and no one should have given such a person a gun in the first place).
