After a very frustrating game to watch from both sides, with probably an NFL record in terms of number of personal fouls, Rams' DE Chris Long getting ejected, and after literally EVERY play players having to get separated and nonstop fighting for the whole 3 hours of game time, it is clear these two teams hate each other. Even more than any division rival. Cam Newton and his egotistical personality as well as Steve Smith instigated this rivalry.
Summary: It all began when Robert Quinn nearly sacked Cam Newton, knocking Newton out for a play. Four Panthers started pushing and shoving Quinn, and then Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Chris Long defended their fellow DE and a huge fight ensued and the field was filled with everyone from each team pushing and shoving. Chris Long apparently punched a Panthers player, and the following ensued:

As you can see, some random Panther player is mocking the ejection call. Cam Newton also danced and did the same thing. Steve Smith as well. Then as Long walked off the field, Carolina Panthers fans threw trash at Chris Long as he walked into the tunnel. The refs were a bunch of bitches that favored the Carolina Panthers all game. Steve Smith was caught grabbing Eugene Sim's facemask as well as Robert Quinn's after the play was over. He should've also been ejected, as he was in all 30 of the 30 fights that took place.
Later on in the game, Sam Bradford got injured on what Harvey Dahl perceived to be a late hit on Bradford (It wasn't). When Harvey Dahl saw Bradford rolling on the sideline injured and #21 Mike Mitchell dancing (who knew Bradford was injured), Dahl ran from the sidelines onto the field and ran straight into the Carolina Panthers #21. Dahl should've been ejected, but wasn't. That's how crazy this game got.
Brian Quick also drew a personal foul penalty for fighting.
Mike Tolbert also drew a personal foul penalty for fighting.
Reporters said that Steve Smith wasn't just talking trash to the Rams players, but also Rams fans in the stands. Wow. It makes sense that one of my friends who was at the game told me that there was fights in the stands with Rams fans and Panthers fans. I was pissed just sitting there watching this game. Steve Smith even instigated FANS to fight each other!
Here is a postgame interview with Steve Smith:
Steve Smith has choice words for Rams CB Janoris Jenkins
Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith had some choice words for St. Louis cornerback Janoris Jenkins following Carolina's 30-15 win.
Smith caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton with 19 seconds left in the third quarter. Jenkins, a second-year player, was one of the Rams that Smith made miss on his way to the end zone.
Smith got into the end zone, pointed to Jenkins, started doing former NFL cornerback Deion Sanders' celebration dance and then signaled to stop. He then proceeded to do his own celebration dance.
Below is the transcript from Smith's post-game interview:
Take us through the touchdown, looks like you made some guys missed. "I’ll let Janoris Jenkins go over it on film on Monday."
Did you point to him? "Yes, I directly pointed to him."
Did you think you’d get a taunting penalty? "Don’t give a damn."
What was the dance you did? "Well he thinks he’s Deion (Sanders). He’s not."
To get your 800th catch against him… "He’s just another notch on the bedpost. That’s 800. He ain’t no different."
For your 800th to be a touchdown, what’s that mean to you? "Just another dude."
Did you have any run-ins with him before? "No. What I don’t like is a young guy, comes in, obviously his first time ever using the internet and Google, and he Googles information about me, talks about my wife and stuff like that. That’s kind of some of the (B.S). I just don’t play with."
What specifically was he saying? "That’s all I’m going to say. I don’t play them games. When you try to take it personal like that, I don’t have any great humbling things to say. So he can take his (butt) back to St. Louis and watch the (expletive) film because I don’t play them games. And if I see him in the streets I’m going to punch him in his (expletive) mouth.
On your touchdown celebration, was that a little bit extra? "When you embarrass people you rub it in their face. When your dog (urinates) on the carpet, you rub it in his face."
I like how Smith talks like Jenkins is the bad guy, when Smith started it all and faught with every single Rams player. I'm glad Jenkins beat Smith at his own game of talking shit. I posted that interview above because I think it's funny. But no, this is war now between these two teams. I can't wait to see some of the press conferences from both sides.
