Neither team was very effective on offense. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, especially palmer but we got to shore up on offense bad. I understand that we had alot of starters out, and both of our back up RBs, but this was horrible.
Pryor was absolutely terrible. He ran around way too much, ran backwards way too much. He wouldnt throw it and was to quick to drop the ball and run, when he did pass it would often be at receivers feet.
Bright spots were Rod Streeter. He looked as good as reports have said and i'm impressed. The 1st team run D was great. And our Pass rush on 1-3 was awesome. our secondary really broke down when we got to the 3rd team. DVD continued his poor decision making from last year.

Pryor was bad but I really didn't like Leinart. I know he was accurate but his passes were so weak that they seemed to travel in slow motion. By the time they arrived the receiver had no chance to get additional yards. It wouldn't surprise me if he's cut ahead of Priyor. I think the Cowboys will improve. I don't have a good feeling about the Raiders.

I wouldn't go that far LAB. Our starters weren't out there long enough for those who played. Carson is going to through INT's thats a given. Its the same as with Brett Favre, its just their throwing style.
The first and biggest problem was we had a weak running game. Miller showed some promise, but he is the 4th guy on the depth chart (6th if you count Reese and Schmit). We need to get Goodson and Jones in the games. The Raiders are a run first team and are set up to be a run first team. Not having that depth last night hurt us.
What I disliked the most outside of Pryor was Ford. He had hands of stone when normally he'd make most of the grabs. This hurt both Palmer and Leinart's production. Yes the INT is 100% on Palmer, but I can see where he made the mistake. He assumed that Ford would out run the Cowboys DB's who showed great speed and is a good sign for Dallas, they deserve that praise after last night because while our starters were in they kept up really well.
I've written an article on how Pryor could succeed in Oakland. After last night, I could write a novel on how he wont. I can only hope to see glimpses of what DA does this week in preparation for Friday's Game in AZ.
Bottom line this was week 1, and mistakes are going to be made. What we need to take away, as Herm Edwards said afterwards is the good, because what's good is great, and whats bad can be fixed. What Leinart did can be fixed, he was sound for being a qb 2. Granted he's no Gradkowski, who was able to come in and play toe for toe with Campbell, but he's no Andrew Walter, Kyle Boller, or Josh McCown either.
LAB I also had a sick feeling in my stomach, it reminded me of years past in a bad way. But like I said, its only week 1 of the preseason, and to be honest the play calling was really vanilla like i said. I doubt we will see much of the normal play book till week 4, and will continue to expect fundamental plays being called.
Palmer will improve, there is no doubt. DMC Looked amazing for the short time he was in. Moore didnt play and DHB was only in for the first few plays. Once we get more of our starters in for a longer period of time we will do better. Once we get Lechler back we wont have the issues we had on special teams. King has the leg, and I feel he will be Lechlers replacement in the next few years, but he needs to work on the hold. We left 9 points on the field last night, which is more then the cowboys had a chance to get. The first was on King not setting right, the second was Seabass losing his footing and not being able to plant correctly causing him to hit the ball flat, and the 3rd was a combination of King holding the ball laces in and Carmona shanking it. This single play might cost Carmona his spot.
The best thing was the D. We had a pass rush all game and this is huge, especially considering how we did last year and what we have to deal with in the division. We still have huge question marks in the secondary. Our safeties will be good, our corners still look to need help, the starters werent in there for as long as i thought they should have and would like to see more out of them. Our first and second string run D was really good too, which was a huge improvement as well.
We also seen some good plays out of Gordon and Ausberry which we need production out of TE.
Current depth chart standings as i see them for the positons in question that showed clarity are:
QB: Palmer, Leinart, Pryor WR: Moore DHB Streeter Ford Criner TE: Gordon, Ausberry, Meyers.
Defensively we looked good, i cant say to much bad about them, we didnt start having huge issues until our 3/4th squad came out. Also Kilgore, another UDFA had a strong showing in a position where we need all the help we can get giving us the out look of having our LBs being:
OLB: Curry, Burris, Goethel MLB: McClain, Ihenacho, Kilgore SLB Wheeler, Kilgore OLB: Burris, Goethel, Crawford (Yes he is a DE, but i can see him droping back on 3-4 plays to fill in the outside spot)

Also remember, Palmer threw a pick, but so did Peyton, Rivers, Weeden, Skelton, Schuab, Rodgers, Ryan, Kolb/Skelton, Stafford, Moore, Flynn/Wilson, and Hasselbeck. Thats 12 (14 qbs altogether, but not all the qbs will be starters) other starting QBs that threw INTs as well

ugly game or not, i think the raiders should be happy that the pass rush got through that cowboys OL early at the beganing of the game
rod streater was gameball for the raiders by far. hes fighting for a roster spot, but could still make the practice squad instead

After the way Ford played, i'd see him taking a step back if he keeps dropping the easy ball like he was where as streater did good
