Would you consider bringing back board mods if we expand? If I could delete troll posts if it happens in my thread (if they come along which we know they will) that would be great.

I really like the atmosphere that we have here right now. I personally don't see the benefit of allowing a whole bunch of random people coming in to water down the discussions. I am more than happy for more people to join, but I think there should still be a screening process to some extent, to make it more difficult for the trolls to get in. #3 seems like the best option.

Another issue with letting random people join is that are they people or spam bots? I can just about guarantee that as soon as the forum opens spam bots will flock to it.

1 and 3 are almost the same things, but thinking about it I do like #3 better because we know of who's joining at least, whereas with the first option, the spambots will have a MUCH higher chance of getting in here and destroying these forums

And I for one would like it if you do open it to remove any pictures of me. Maybe hide the show your face thread or something. We'll handle that. I have a question. If you open it to everyone, how will they know? Post on other forums? I'm ok with this being open, although I doubt people will find this forum on their own. I'm curious about the google bots though We could go to other forums, like SBNation, and put it in our signatures as advertising. There are other means. I assume plenty of people found the place through google. Just google nflfanforums, we're on the first page. However, we need to agree with a more-concrete system on how people are evaluated here: For example, would Panther be willing to kick somebody if we think they are stupid/annoying but they're not a troll? I know it sounds harsh, but I really like the atmosphere we have right now. I honestly like everybody here. I have never had a problem with anybody here, and that's probably mainly in thanks to Panther and plax selecting each and every one of us, because they knew that we were good people. We'd probably qualify it as trolling or just being plain stupid. I have to disagree with you on one aspect Bengal. I believe that if you want to talk to fans of your own team, the SBNation fan sites is where you should go. I believe it's called cincyjungle.com. Personally, I really do not like 90% of the fans from my own team (As arrogant as this sounds, they really do not know as much about the Rams as me, yet they argue with me so it just annoys me), so I rarely go over to St. Louis Rams fan sites. I think LAB feels the same way as me. nateball89 too, so maybe I'm not so weird after all in that I don't like many fans from my own team. And you know, we really are elite company here. We are not average mill of the road fans here. We really know our stuff about our teams. That's what I really like about this place, everybody here knows their team like the back of their hand and are either smart, funny, or easy to get along with. I'm sure 95% of us pretty much like everybody here. When we open this to the public, that number is going to severely decline. I'm honestly not worried about the trolls. I'm more worried about too many dumb, annoying, or extremely argumentative people (Some douchebag who just argues to argue) coming in here ruining the friendly atmosphere we have going on.I TOTALLY agree with expanding this forum, like you said meeting new people keeps things fresh. However, we need to agree with a more-concrete system on how people are evaluated here: For example, would Panther be willing to kick somebody if we think they are stupid/annoying but they're not a troll? I know it sounds harsh, but I really like the atmosphere we have right now. I honestly like everybody here. I have never had a problem with anybody here, and that's probably mainly in thanks to Panther and plax selecting each and every one of us, because they knew that we were good people. that's where the graveyard comes in. off-topic talk helps earn the respect of members, that's why there isn't a lot of f-bombs in disagreements here. I also have problems with the people on the Colts' SB Nation blog, but I still post there under the name colts4thewin. there isn't a thread where you can talk off-topic things to earn the members' resoect, so the only way you'll earn respect there is if you write extensive comments, which is very hard to do. we have a graveyard here, so writing extensive comments to earn people's respect won't be needed I've stopped visiting SBNation all together because a) I've been busier and b) Everyone is biased. If you say anything negative about the team on their blog you will get trashed. Where are these members coming from? Why they wanna join? Seems a little silly to me. And they could say anything they want. They're not gonna anything like "I want to let those pompous Pats fans know the party is over - go Phins!!". And really, do you and plax wanna put your emails out there for anyone and everyone? Currently, we have an email for the whole forum and all admins/mods know it. I think the answer might be for those already in the team forums that find posters they like, be proactive about inviting them, give panther and plax a heads up, ask for a screenname or email addy in advance, and accept them automatically. I think that's really what he sorta have in place, but encourage folk to be more proactive. Maybe fans like me that don't visit sites could join them and look for good folk, but that's a lot to ask. We probably want all teams somewhat represented. We'd still need to know something about that person, even if we get one good word from somebody when others might know of them and have a different opinion. I don't know if BLOCKING BY POST COUNT would work that well. It sounds like some people would end up being blocked to certain areas because we don't post quite so much as others do. I've been around for a while, but my post count is not that large. If we did something that way I'd be blocked from the other areas? Anyway, I'll vote... It depends upon how high we do it, but if we did it by 500, it'd block you at the moment. Isn't there a way to up someone's post count? It isn't the best option, but we could up everyone's post count to say 1000. It can be done, but it's not something I want to do. You can only do that by either Staff Groups (which I don't want to do) or Post Count (which won't work as well as I'd like). I'd prefer to either use a Hidden Private Board or to find a script someone on the ProBoards Support Forum created for something like this. I could try to script something if you want. I have a decent amount of experience and could probably get something to work. Now if we had a hidden board that showed up based on post count, then new members wouldnt know about it which would give them no reason to do the extreme when no mods are on. If you'd be willing to make one that works, I'd love to use it. I could request one at the PBs support forum and get one there if you'd rather me ask there. Would you consider bringing back board mods if we expand? If I could delete troll posts if it happens in my thread (if they come along which we know they will) that would be great. No. It'd be less likely having board mods opening it up.

I know that we'll do it by posting on some other place, but if more people here start bringing more people from other forums, I'll see who I want in the Colts' SB Nation blog. but I have a bit of a bad rep in that place, so it's best if they don't know that C4TW (me) is here
"I've stopped visiting SBNation all together because a) I've been busier and b) Everyone is biased. If you say anything negative about the team on their blog you will get trashed."
so I guess I'm not the only victim of that...that's how I got the bad rep in the first place.

Panther If it is as simple as just asking the support forum then go ahead and do that. I would be more than happy to do it if you cant get one over there.

Seems like everybody has had the same experiences as us, so that definitely tells me that SBNation is the problem, not us. When I first registered an account on SBnation, I thought it was a friendly atmosphere and could say what came across my mind regarding the Rams on Turfshowtimes. I quickly came to find out, like Panther said, is that if you say anything even slightly bad about the Rams (Like a certain player, or something that didn't go right in the game), then you will get ganged up on and criticized. Essentially, you have to go full-out homer to fit in with the band of douchebags over there. I think it's their writers that set the tone for the website. They are very immature and unprofessional. There is one writer on the TST blog that will hurl insults at anyone who disagrees with the articles he writes, or if somebody looks at an issue in a different light, he will either sarcastically disrespect you, or say something in a condescending tone that "I know more than you, and I'm a writer here, so STFU." And oddly enough everyone supports ^ that writer above, so there's nothing you can really do. Lol. SBnation fan sites are such a joke.

I like him because we have the same opinions on most things (we got insulted by the readers of course), but sometimes I don't like him because he things that he shouldn't have wrote.but lately things have been working well for me. I haven't got into many fights lately, people are agreeing with me, 3 people who I despise there haven't posted much recently, I hope it lasts

I am a fan of the #4 option. Give us a place where we can still have our little group in a private atmosphere and talk about some of the private/ ridiculous things we talk about and then open the sports area up to anyone. I'd prefer password over post count TBH where we still pick and choose who we allow in there.
More people would be nice, but I also love what we have going on here.
