Tough blow in the first week. Lane's suspension is now really gonna be felt, although I hope that I'm wrong. Teams are going to attack those week spots on the front line now. I hope Chip has a good plan to counter that if the replacements start to crumble.

This is all stuff from other thread's, but I felt it belonged here too. Spoles is the one that killed it against the Colts. He did that last week too. Not to this degree though, but he was the spark plug last week also. I'm thoroughly impressed. I think the Saint's were stupid for not using him more. It always sucks when really special talents don't get properly utilized. I think that just goes to show how good and innovative of a coach that Chip Kelly is. What I REALLY like also, is how this coaching staff has has proven they are very good at making game-time adjustments. That's what I was so frustrated with Andy Reid about for YEARS. He was who he was. There were things he was very good at, some things he wasn't, and he never got much better over the years at improving on the things he wasn't good at. He just was what he was, and that's how it was going to be. I have respect for the man though, he kept us very competitive and exciting almost every season. I know the difference between a good coach, and a bad coach. I've saw them both here over the years as an Eagles fan. At times, Andy Reid was a great coach, not just a good one....during his "prime" that is. He just became too easily predictable, and the act became really stale those last few years. I REALLY like what I see from Chip Kelly as a coach, in all aspects. Breath of fresh air I tell ya'

Mychal Kendricks officially(reportedly) ruled out for this week 3 game. Reports saying Emanuele Echo will start in Place of Kendricks. Also reports of your Eagles 1st rd pick Marcus Smith II getting some snaps in Kendricks stead. Hope Casey Matthews doesn't edge in their as he's the primary backup usually.

Desean Jackson still not practicing, I have lil doubt that he'll play though. He thinks he's above practice anyway. I also see that their #1 TE Reed is out. That helps.

What an odd start it has been for the Eagles offense in 2014. After the victories over Jacksonville and Indianapolis, the Eagles led the NFL in yards and points per game through two games - right where they expected to be. And yet it has still felt like the offense is not functioning near its highest capability, which speaks to what must be, to the rest of the league, a scary ceiling for the Eagles' offense. Nick Foles, for instance, has over 300 yards passing in both games and trails only Matt Ryan in passing yards. But Foles would say that he's left too many plays on the field over the first two weeks, and he's also turned the ball over four times. This Unit could end up being record breaking.

At 3-1, the Eagles reach the quarter point of the season with a winning record, but they haven’t played their best. That’s a positive in the NFL. But when you look at a game like the one they had at San Francisco, where they had two special teams touchdowns and a defensive touchdown and still lost the game, that’s almost unheard of. I truly don’t know if that has ever happened in the NFL.
I see the Eagles as a week-by-week team. They need to hold the fort until they can get all the boys in the band back together – specifically, Jason Kelce and Evan Mathis along the offensive line – and hope they are in position to make a run in November and December.
The issues with this team IMo- The defense has not been consistent stopping the run, and the loss to the 49ers was clear evidence of that. The front three of Fletcher Cox , Bennie Logan and Cedric Thornton have to be better at the point of attack and the linebackers have to clean up and tackle well. Not having Mychal Kendricks at linebacker is clearly hampering this defense. In fact, the Eagles have been decimated at inside linebacker, also losing Najee Goode . So that has to get better on defense. The cornerbacks are probably average, or maybe slightly below average. The pass rush hasn’t been as consistent. I’m not sure I see a difference-maker on defense, although safety Malcolm Jenkins is making me eat my words. He’s been outstanding.
The problems on offense start at the line of scrimmage. There is nothing the Eagles can do about losing Kelce and Mathis, but they can try to design to mitigate that weakness as much as possible. They weren’t able to do that against the 49ers. I think they’ll get better, and having Lane Johnson back will help a lot. I’m not sure how long it will take him to get back into shape, but having Lane and Todd Herremans on the right side will be a big improvement.
Everything starts at the line of scrimmage and right now the Eagles aren’t as good as they want to be there. That’s the mission for the next quarter of the season. Win up front. Stay at the top of the division and then get healthy and see what happens in the second half of the season.
The division isn’t at all what I thought it would be heading into the season. I thought it would be the NFC Least. Instead, Dallas is playing much better football with their play calling, with the run game, with a defense that is playing halfway-decent football. The Giants are 2-2 and they tore up Washington and now they are in the mix again.
Instead of what we all thought, which was the Eagles running away with the division, it’s going to be a fight to the very end. If the Eagles can stay right there, in the mix, and then get healthy, they should still be the best team in the NFC East, but it’s not going to be easy at all.
I've seen some people already pick Philly in the survivor game, very ballsy when they are playing a Rams team coming off a bye and the Eagles still hurting from oline replacements.
