Fullbacks are not what they used to be for NFL franchises. Many would rather a 2 TE set or a 3 WR set for more offensive production passing the ball. Sad, yes, but we all know this will continue to happen.

He will be 32 at some point during the season and the league is shifting towards FBs that well...really aren't just fullbacks. They need to be able to do more than just lead block and should offer receiving ability out of the backfield or the versatility to line up at TE. One-dimensional fullbacks sort of give the offense away.

Though I agree with both of your statements, and recently drafted, Kyle Juszczyk, is the future at FB for the Ravens, I am still extremely upset by this news. There is NO better fullback, in the NFL, presently. The man eats linebackers for breakfast, and opens Mack truck sized holes in defensive lines. Put simply, he will be sorely missed.

I understand why you are upset. There are just some players you fall in love with (not like that) because of a certain toughness they brought to the team or they are the iconic image of that franchise. One of the saddest days of my football life was when Rodney Hampton was no longer a Giant when I was a kid. Tough, hard nosed RB that was stuck on a team with little talent. It's hard to see the personal favorites leave.

It's hard to see the personal favorites leave. I can certainly understand why the loss of Hampton would be painful to you. As to Leach, though he hasn't been on the team for very long, he has certainly become a favorite of mine. I am certain that, despite the old style fullback being on the decline, the Ravens will have many suitors for Leach. I can only hope, despite another favorite of mine, Kuhn, already on their roster, that Green Bay is among them. Though I love Kuhn, imo, Leach would be a clear upgrade.

Guy is from North Carolina. Love him as a player, not the team he plays for.
He will have a team in Sept thats for sure.

John Kuhn--runs well with the ball in his hands, clears lanes for the RB, pass blocks for the QB, as well as catches TD passes. All hail and bow down to GB's extraordinary FB. Kuuuuuuuuuuuhn. Nuff said.

Miss Lacy, I don't disagree, Kuhn is fantastic, and one of my favorite Packers, but Leach may be had for less money, is a better blocker, can also catch out of the backfield, and bulldozes through anyone in his way... can you imagine the success of Lacy, Franklin, Harris, and Green with the Grand Canyon-like holes that Leach opens?

I don't think they should release him if they can't trade him. Leach is the best FB in the NFL, and he's a good receiver. Teams will offer something for him for sure
Off-topic question: Do you have any news on A.Q. Shipley?
