Here I'll be doing threads about the Colts' preview throughout the season.
Week 1 Pre-Season Matchup: St. Louis Rams vs. Indianapolis Colts
vs.
Colts released their depth chart for this game against the Rams. I won't post in here because the post will be too big, but it is on the first post of the Training Camp news Thread.
Players to watch:
QB Andrew Luck
The man is raising eyebrows everywhere with his performance on the camp, and I expect him to shine in this game too.
RB Donald Brown, Mewelde Moore
Donald Brown is getting his shot at showing that he will play better than his previous years, Bruce Arians wants the Colts' offense to be a run first one. And it'll be curious to see how he'll use his favorite RB Mewelde Moore in this run first offense.
WR: Austin Collie
Collie is Luck's favorite target in camp, that shows that Collie isn't overrated, he may not have sensational speed, but he is a guy that has the ability to be open.
TE: Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen
If the Colts pretend to use two TE sets, then Fleener and Allen will be among the players to watch. It'll be great to see that Luck and Fleener will continue their chemistry on the field.
OL: Jeff Linkenbach, Joe Reitz
Linkenbach moved to guard a few days ago. He'll compete with Joe Reitz for the starting spot. Linkenbach is the starter for the game, but in the end I think Linkenbach wins it.
DL (in the 3-4 scheme): Fili Moala, Drake Nevis, Antonio Johnson, Brandon McKinney
Antonio Johnson and Fili Moala were failures at run stopping last year, but the Colts will use the 3-4 scheme on just 25% of the plays, but I'm concerned about the RE position. Drake Nevis will get his chance to show his potential now that he will play more this season. Antonio Johnson was playing well at practices, better than Brandon McKinney.
LB: Pat Angerer, Kavell Conner
Angerer is an average player, same for Conner, I hope the 3-4 scheme helps him, Angerer can't tackle on his own.
DB: Everyone in the CB position plus Tom Zbikowski
Every single year my main concern on the Colts' defense is the cornerbacks. They got rid of horrid CB Jacob Lacey, but they still have another in Jerraud Powers, the Colts have one of the worst starting CBs in the league if not the worst. And I'm very interested in watching Tom Zbikowkski play for the Colts.
Special Teams: LaVon Brazill, T.Y. Hilton
The Colts' return men, both are young and I'll be interested in seing that because the Colts' kick/punt returning options was far from being good.

Prediction: While the Colts are with a rejuvenated offense, don't count out the Rams offense. They have Sam Bradford, Steven Jackson (if he plays), and the young receiving options. But in the defense, I think the Colts can exploit the Rams' weaknesses. The Rams are a very competitive team, but I think they will pull the win.
