I re-watched the fight and I think he can be very good, but he needs to work on that sprawl. With his frame, there is no way that he should have been consistently beat to the punch on takedowns.
I don't see him ever becoming the division champion, but that doesn't mean he will not have a great career; he will.

NickWorthem So I just got finished watching the fight and I have to agree with you about his sprawling. He was taken down way too many times by Gastelum, but it doesn't exactly surprise me that Gastelum was able to. Him being shorter than Hall allowed him to get under Hall a lot faster and easier. Gastelum was just absolutely relentless the whole fight, too. I think the biggest reason why Hall got beat is simply because it seemed like he may have underestimated Gastelum and wasn't prepared for Gastelum's toughness and aggressiveness. Hall was landing some big shots and Gastelum was just shaking them off. Based on how many times Hall would drop his hands and try to bait him, I would say he was just a little too confident and it made Gastelum fight even harder. Personally, I didn't see any sense of frustration from Hall. As many times as Hall was taken down, his ground defense was superb considering the way he was able to transition out of the guard from his back a few times. And that suplex was pretty bad ass. Overall, that was one HELL of a fight from both guys. Do I agree with you about Hall being over-hyped? Not even a little bit. I mean, it's not like Gastelum dominated him. That fight easily could have gone either way. Hall will definitely receive a UFC contract, though, and I actually hope these guys fight again in the future because that was an awesome finale. I'm sure it would've been even better if you hadn't spoiled it for me, though

Personally I thought Hall won the fight. He definitely lost the first round but I thought he won the last 2. I knew the judges were going to give Gastelum the win because of the last minute take down. In the last round Gastelum only landed 18 strikes to Halls 35, I don't think the last takedown should count for that much considering he didn't really do anything afterwards. But congrats to Gastelum he played a smart fight and got the win. Hall has all the potential in the world but needs to mature more as a fighter
