I agree with what Jindred is saying. If you're not ready to mother a child, don't get pregnant. If these women are gonna get in bed with a man or whatever, then that was THEIR decision to do so and they should NOT be punishing the child that results from what they did for it.. Or father I believe in no way should fathers be exempt from this! If you aren't ready to be a Dad keep your dick in your pants.

That was another point I semi-addressed in the cbox. With advancements in technology, longer life expectancy and a human population that has been growing exponentially, eventually there will be a crisis with food, water shortage and only the fittest and strongest will survive while the others die The world population will go down very soon though. Familys are having less children now than they used to. When the baby boomers all die out the population especially in America/ Canada will go down. The world ebbs and flows in this. The population goes up and then will fall and then will go up and fall again. Should qualify that by very soon I mean in like 30 to 50 years Yeah... but the food shortages aren't in North America. They are in the developping nations and that's where the population is increasing.

As sad as it is, one child for family in many countries may have to become part of it for a while until things even out.

Here's another view and I'd say it's sort of radical as well: How sacred is human life now that the world is closing in on 7 billion people? At what point do we say enough is enough and we make a conscious, global effort to keep the growth of the human race controlled? That was another point I semi-addressed in the cbox. With advancements in technology, longer life expectancy and a human population that has been growing exponentially, eventually there will be a crisis with food, water shortage and only the fittest and strongest will survive while the others die All of these things you have listed has made me a huge advocate for more investment in the advancement of space travel. Resources will only last so long on Earth and with a growing population, adequate space that is habitable will be required down the road. Plus it's fucking cooooooooool

jancey, I respect your opinion about abortion but please consider this situation: A woman who is 33 weeks pregnant announces that she is going to leave the country and have an abortion in a country where there are no laws on abortion. Should the authorities:- A) Prevent her from leaving the country and detain her against her will until she has given birth. B) Arrest her when she returns after having had that abortion and take some form of legal action against her that will result in a prison sentence. C) Shrug their shoulders and ignore what has happened. If your answer is C) then any debate on abortion is pointless and irrelevant except for those financially desperate people who can't leave the country. If your answer is A) or B then you have to figure out how to change the constitution/your country's laws regarding personal freedoms and whether you want to do that. Ireland is a strongly Catholic country. The laws are closely linked to the Church's teachings. Until recently abortion was illegal. That changed in line with the European Court of Human Rights and Ireland's membership of the EU. Now Abortion is legal - but no doctor will perform one for fear of 'religious consequences'. The authorities used to try legal action to prevent travel - but the lawyers and general public were against this. The situation is that any woman who wants an abortion can have one - but they have to travel to Britain. It is a true definition of 'FUCKING STUPID!' I don't see why any country that isn't in this situation would want to put themselves in it. They can't arrest her for having an abortion in a country where it is legal because technically she didn't commit a crime. They can't prevent her from going to another country to abort the child because that is her freedom to choose where to go. And you can't detain her because she hasn't aborted the child. I guess my answer is sorta C...but not really. Yes, they should let her leave. They can't control what she does outside of this country. All we can do is make it illegal to abort them here. What the women decide to do beyond that point is their decision. I am obviously still COMPLETELY against them aborting the child, but that's really all there is to do.

I think life begins when an organism receives sentience myself. I can understand Jancey's view though. I agree with this view.
