This is for any and all news concerning the Steelers including Training Camp, Preseason, Regular Season, the Draft, Free Agent signings(ha!), Re-signings and so on.
First off I would like to get some training camp news going.
- Chris Rainey seems to be living up to the hype so far and is really impressing the fans with his speed. On a memorable play, he completely burned Myron Rolle with a perfect slant route while playing in the slot for a big play
- Stevenson Sylvester has been seeing time at Outside Linebacker as Sean Spence has reportedly taken the inside track behind Larry Foote and could be seen on obvious pass plays
- Cortez Allen has looked VERY good at Nickle CB and has shown a lot of potential
- The no-huddle seems to be a "big" part of Todd Haley's system and Steeler fans should see a lot more of it this season
- Antonio Brown seems on the inside track to becoming Ben's #1 target(even when Mike Wallace returns).
- Steve McClendon looks comfortable at NT. On one play Wednesday, he bull rushed Maurkice Pouncey several yards into the backfield to make a stop. Alameda Ta'amu has also shown promise as he has been taking double teams
- Cam Heyward has improved and is looking to be a bigger part of the Defense
- David DeCastro rolled his ankle, but is not expected to miss any time in camp.
Any more news will be added in the thread.

- Marquis Maze has made some impressive catches and could supplant Toney Clemons for the 5th WR spot
- Alameda Ta'amu has been described as "immovable" and has the perfect NT build to replace Casey Hampton
- Kelvin Beachum has been impressing coaches by learning multiple positions and has a chance of forcing Ramon Foster off of the roster
- Willie Colon has played as advertised at LG and has shown a lot of nastiness. On one play, he completely pancaked Lawrence Timmons and threw him to the ground which caused a scuffle between the Offense and Defense(though that seems to be commonplace now in Steeler camp, though not because of any ill will)
- Chris Carter has shined in the 1st team Defense due to James Harrison and Jason Worilds being out with injuries.
- Rookie Punter Drew Butler has been taking all of the snaps since Kapinos has been hurt. He has been inconsistent, but has shown he has tremendous leg strength, easily punting the ball 70+ yards. The starting Punter job is in a dead heat right now
- Maurkice Pouncey on David DeCastro - "Most of the time he doesn't say anything at all. They call him Mr. Personality. He went to that smart school. It was probably school, school, school, and football. He probably didn't learn to have a good time in college -- he didn't take bowling"
- Antonio Brown on new OC Todd Haley - "Todd's a really cool guy - shaking guys' hands, communicating with guys, putting in that extra time with guys, visiting with guys. Bruce Arians wasn't really that type of guy - he just went about his business. Todd is more team-oriented and more communicative with players and trying to work together with the men, so he's getting to know everyone. That's something special to be a part of."

The Steelers are going to carry 11 OL? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised with our history of OL health problems

It looks like FB David Johnson is out for the year with a torn ACL. Will Johnson will be the starting FB.

Big loss... Hope Adams and Dwyer are okay at least.
OL looked bad except Pouncey and DeCastro to be honest. And Cole and Babin didn't even play...

Yea, I haven't heard that much about Adams and Dwyer(then again, I haven't been looking very hard). The OL showed some growing pains, but Adams looked very good in Run Blocking and DeCastro looked very good as well. Our Offense looked VERY efficient early on. At least we don't have Jonathan Scott and Chris Kemoeatu starting anymore. This line is definitely an improvement over what it was before even without Colon for the moment.

With Rainey there if you lose Dwyer for a few weeks you will still be safe. I know I'm going to be one of the people who speak the highest on him, but this kid has skills that will set him apart from everyone. He's been compared to McCluster but thats an unfair comparison because about the only things they have in common is size and pass catching ability, when it comes to actually running the ball its like night and day.
