From Philadelphiaeagles.com
'The Philadelphia Eagles have taken virtually their entire braintrust to Morgantown,West Virginia today to hold a private workout with Mountaineers QB Geno Smith. Pro Football Talk is reporting and Adam Caplan has confirmed that Chip Kelly,Howie Roseman and even owner Jeff Lurie were all present.
It may be no more than due diligence, but it's some serious due diligence if that is the case. There are a lot new things going with the Eagles these days, but I'm not sure I ever remember hearing about Jeff Lurie going on a scouting trip. You have to think that Geno Smith at least has the chance to impress the Eagles enough today garner serious consideration with that #4 overall pick.
The Eagles currently have 5 QBs on their roster with Michael Vick, Nick Foles, Dennis Dixon,Trent Edwards & GJ Kinne. The latter 3 are entirely expendable so probably no hindrance to bringing in a rookie. Vick is only here on a one year deal,so could certainly be seen as a placeholder that would allow a rookie to sit for most of his first season.
As for Foles,if the Eagles did in fact draft Geno Smith you'd have to think a trade of him would not be far behind.
Interestingly, another QB prospect,Matt Scott from Arizona will be in Philly today to meet with coaches"

Hoping this is a smokescreen to get a team like NYJ, ARI, or Buff to trade up.

I hope AZ does, cause the Raiders would be willing partners haha.

It's a smokescreen for Buffalo.
Philly just re-signed QB-Dog Killer, brought in Dixon, and have expressed strong interest in E.J. Manuel. Smith will, likely, not fit the Cards offense as you cannot anticipate it changing all that much, in one season.

Dixons there to be a player coach and nothing more, he will be on the practice squad sooner than later, Foles will more than likely be traded and many believe Manuel will be the 2nd QB taken, Genos skill set as a passer is much better than Manuels, Geno is faster as well, Manuels size is better than Genos. Many believe it is not a smokescreen and Im starting to as well. Chip loves QB's like Geno and if he is there at 4, I think hes Vicks new protege.
Dog killer? Weak nick.

He made his life choices and can be aptly judged for it. His prison time was for the gambling, not the dog fights themselves. On topic: EJ Manuel is better at reading defenses, makes his reads quicker, and had more responsibilities in play calling, during college. His mobility is more of the Jay Cutler-mold, functional mobility, whereas Geno's is more of the "I'm going to try and get yards myself". For that offensive line, that somehow always struggles, EJ Manuel may be better at not getting destroyed. I still, by a great deal, think Eric Fisher is the best pick for the Eagles, with Milner the second option. Geno Smith has too many question marks and that offensive line is a weakness. (Jason Peters' metrics make him look pretty bad).

(Jason Peters' metrics make him look pretty bad). Have to disagree that the Oline is a weakness, probowl caliber players at every position but RG. Geno ran plenty of hurry up where he called plays, I do think EJ's value is higher as a second rounder than Geno's as a #4 pick. Think first option is Milliner then Geno. Vick did more that enough time and paid his dues. We will see if you also reference Big ben as rapist or Ray Lewis as Murderer.

Ray Lewis technically didn't kill a guy, but he retired so no references. Big Ben never raped anyone, but I do not respect his sexual assaults any more.
Dog Killing is still wrong and it's not justifiable.
