My latest stab at roster predictions (in order of depth, bold starter)
Offense:
QB: Cam Newton, Derek Anderson, Jimmy Clausen
Notes - Newton starts all 16.
RB: Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, Mike Tolbert
Notes - Completle RBBC, Stewart and Williams splitting 45% - 40% in favor of Stewart, Tolbert will get 9%, Cam will get 6%.
WR: Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell, David Gettis, Joe Adams, Kealoha Pileras, Seyi Ajirotutu
Outside WRs: Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell, David Gettis
Slot WRs: Joe Adams, Kealoha Pileras, Steve Smith
Notes - Smitty will be playing some slot next year, but will mainly be outside burning CBs. I am sure all but Tutu will make the team, Tutu has been lighting up camp. Amarti Edwards and Darvin Adams are in the chase, too.
TE: Greg Olsen, Gary Barnidge, Ben Harstock
Notes - Olsen and Barnidge both play WR type roles, so Harstock makes the roster due to being the best blocker of the bunch.
LT: Jordan Gross, Gary Williams
Notes - Gross is our starting LT, no question.
LG: Amini Silatolu, Mike Pollak
Notes - Either Pollak or Hangartner might play LG if Silatolu gets hurt, but our 2nd round pick will be starting at LG.
C: Ryan Kalil, Geoff Hangartner
Notes - Hangartner has some nice versitlity to play the interior of the OL, he will backup Kalil and replace him if injury occurs.
RG: Geoff Hangartner, Byron Bell
Notes - Hangartner's main spot on the line, is RG. He will be starting there in 2012.
RT: Jeff Otah, Bruce Campbell, Byron Bell
Notes - Like Hangartner, Bell has some nice versitlity. Bell can play RG or RT, but isn't great at either. He was forced to play RT last year because of Jeff Otah's injury. We traded Mike Goodson away for Bruce Campbell, to replace Otah WHEN he gets hurt.
Defense:
RDE: Greg Hardy, Frank Alexander, Antwan Applewhite
Notes - All of our DEs will be rotated around all year. We have solid depth but no really good players outside of Johnson.
3T DT: Terrell McClain, Andre Neblett, Frank Kearse
Notes - Our weakest link, Neblett is best served as a rotational player and McClain is NOT good enough to start.
NT - Ron Edwards, Sione Fua, Frank Kearse
Notes - Edwards and Fua should do good enough at NT, I have enough confidence in these two that they will not stink the field up, my only concern is if Edwards gets hurt...
LDE: Charles Johnson, Thomas Keiser
Notes - Again, all of our DEs will rotate, I like the two here, I think both have promise. Johnson is young and will be one of the better DEs and Keiser will be a good rotational DE.
SLB: Luke Kuechly, James Anderson
Notes - Either could start, but I'd like Kuechly covering the TEs over Anderson.
MLB - Jon Beason, Luke Kuechly, Jason Phillips, Jason Williams
Notes - Beason should be back healthy, Kuechly will give him some rest when needed.
WLB: James Anderson, Thomas Davis, Luke Kuechly, Jon Beason, Jason Phillips, Kenny Onatolu
Notes - Seems as though all of our LBs could play here, haha. Anderson will be starting with David in rotationg, might see Beason and Kuechly some too.
CB: Chris Gamble, Brandon Hogan, Josh Norman, Captian Munnerlyn, Darius Butler
Slot: Captain Munnerlyn
Notes - Gamble will be starting on the outside, no question. Hogan and Norman will battle for the #2 spot. I love what I am hearing about Norman, but I think Hogan will start week one, Norman can take that spot, though. Munnerlyn, although TERRIBLE outside, is a decent nickel.
FS: Charles Godfrey, Sherrod Martin, Haruki Nakamura
Notes - Please, remove Martin. HORRIBLE. Predicting Godfrey will move to FS and Smith will play SS. Godfrey didn't play too good last year, but he can play either side and I think he'll be good enough to start.
SS: Reggie Smith, Charles Godfrey
Notes - Smith might start (predicting he does) and Godfrey will play backup or start next to him. Safety is a big weak-link for us.
Special Teams:
PK: Olindo Mare
Notes - Sigh... Probably will draft a new kicker in 2013. To sum it up: Mare sucks.
P: Brad Nortman
Notes - Better than Jason Baker, that's for sure. Good directional punter.
KR: Kealoha Pileras, Joe Adams
Notes - Pileras should start here, Adams could give him a run for his money, though.
PR: Joe Adams
Notes - Adams was drafted to replace Amarti Edwards, and that is what he is doing.
Special Teamers (no order):
Mike Tolbert, Haruki Nakamura, Kenny Onatolu, Jason Williams.
Practice Squad:
WR Rico Wallace
WR Jared Green
OT Matt Reynolds
DE Ryan Van Bergen
FS D.J. Campbell
RB Tauren Poole
C/OG Zack Williams
OT Lee Ziemba
